If you are looking for a not-D&D based gritty RPG this could be it. I'm backing the PDF.
Quote: "The Roleplaying Game Where Decisions Are Forged in the Crucible of Conflict!
Designed by Trevor Devall, professional GM and creator of the popular YouTube TTRPG channel “Me, Myself & Die!”, The Broken Empires RPG™ frees you to pursue any character goal you can imagine using an innovative, Sim-Lite, d100 core system inspired by over 125 classic and modern roleplaying games.
A Vast Open World Brimming With Possibility
Developed over 4 seasons on “Me, Myself and Die!”, The Broken Empires is an expansive mid-fantasy world, alive with adventure. From the high mountains and dark forests of the Westlands, to the disappearing banished lands north of the Iron Veil, to the emerging imperial sea-faring empire of Tical Dondala — the setting of The Broken Empires is now yours to explore and expand."
I’ve backed and I’m really excited by this new system. It integrates some cool mechanics and subsystems from my favourite games and the support for wider conflict than just combat is great to see.
Having a game which is designed to be driven by player goals is another thing that I really like - I find it encourages three dimensional characters and pro-active play.
I've listened to his videos and there's a lot of design he's doing that I agree with. It's like a mix of Warhammer FRP 4th ed, The One Ring and Ars Magica. Interestingly, there are no ability/attribute scores.
Excellent video! I've had all these design intentions (arenas of conflicts) in my head for years. Trevor has put them together in a very interesting way. I'm now debating if I should get a physical bundle.
He is right about solo rules. Just use Mythic GM Emulator or an other oracle but it's nice they will have a chapter about it for those who are just starting.
I love Trevor Dewall's show Me, myself and die. He is the one that peeked my interest in Savage Worlds and Solo play as a whole. I will definitely take a look at his game system.
