Killer DMs unite!

My worst offense was in a one off sub-plot game.

The party (of 6) were all mentally linked to a large tribe of pygmies outside a pyramid festooned with traps. Every time a pygmy died, another pygmy ran into the pyramid to keep the number up.

14 characters died. In one 4 hour session.

I am running the Adventure Path modules.

They got through Sunless Citadel just fine.
1 died at the conclusion to Forge of Fury.
2 were killed by the Ogre Mage in Speaker in Dreams.
None died in The Standing Stone.
So far, 6 have died in Nightfang Spire all killed by Gorillions (please see my thread in the rules forum... I am somewhat confused by these things).

I don't think I have ever run a campaign in which someone didn't die, so yes, I think I am a killer DM, but in the current situation, I think 3E is a much deadlier system than previous ones.

Since 3e came out, I've tallied just over 30 PC deaths. Not sure of the exact number, but 30 is pretty close. I can count at least 15 between two players that I'm certain of.

One player lost the same character to 4 different versions of a Gray Render. (basic MM x2, half-machine, half-dragon)

but remember, DM's don't kill PC's, PC's kill PC's

:D

That's what I tell my party. Then they roll their eyes.

In the 6 months our current campaign has run, we've had 2 deaths. Not killer by any stretch, except that these players are used to campaigns where people only die if the DM needs it as part of the plot. Helps keep the fear in them, and it's just not a good game without the fear. :)
