On page 59 in the PHB, on the skills summary chart, the following is listed:

Knowledge(all skills**)

**Bards and wizards buy all Knowledge skills as individual class skills.

What the !@&# does that mean?

Certain classes are restricted to only specific Knowledge skills (Clerics for example can only get Knowledge[Religion]). However a Wizard or bard can take Knowledge in any subject(Religion, Planes, Geography, Anatomy, etc) if they are going to spend skill points in it.

This doesn't mean they can take ranks in Knowledge[All] and get gain access to all realms of knowledge.

Knowledge is broken down into several categories, such as History, Arcana, The Planes, etc. (see pages 70-71 for a complete list). Each type of Knowledge skill must be purchased seperately.

Most classes only have one or two Knowledge skills as class skills. (Some don't even have that...) However, all of the Knowledge skills are class skills for Bards and Wizards.

You can't actually purchase ranks in "Knowledge (All Skills)". To save space, they used that instead of listing every single knowledge skill.
