Krauss' Age of Worms (Act I) - The Whispering Cairn

"That is what I thought also Alexi! But then I thought.... who would want a mirror down in this dark dungeon?" Owen says with a slight chuckle.

"It doesn't look like a mirror to me. Mirrors are usually... symmetrical. It looks off-center.... it doesn't look like it was part of a symmetrical mirror."

OOC: Unless the art is drawn poorly, that is ;)

Edit: Looking at it more closely, the perspective is off. So we'll have to go by the description more than the picture ;)

"Plus there is no glass around, and if I recall correctly, aren't mirrors made of glass?"

“Just in case, you havn't noticed... it's broken! It also is down here since a long, long time already.”

"Always giving me a hard time aren't you! I guess I deserve it sometimes, but where is the glass or overly polished metal, huh?! HUH?! All I see is what could have been the frame." Owen states with a smirk on his face as he stares at Alexi. She could see the motion of Owen's mouth move as if he were going to stick his tongue out at her, but must have decided she would probably threaten to rip it off as she has done every other time he has stuck it out at her.

Alexi

Alexi shrugs.

“Well I don't know that either. Maybe someone collected the shards, because they were pretty?”

Setting his lantern on the ground next to the apparatus, Owen examines the thing further. Running his hand down from the top of the frame to the base where the arcane symbol carved. Kneeling near the symbol, Owens tries to recall anything he might have heard, read, or seen resembling something such as this.

Alexi scrutinizes the strange apparatus with curious eyes, but being unable to discern, what it might be, she asks her friends and companions: “Anyone know what this might've been good for? Looks like part of a frame to hold a large mirror to me.”

The banter between Owen and Alexi is interrupted when Owen puts his hand on something hard and cold. He turns up a few shards of an unidentifiable shiny black substance that feels like stone, but is slightly cold to the touch. (OOC: Eat crow, young man! )

As he runs his hand along the frame, he also notes numerous runes and glyphs carved into a slot on the inside of it. This slot seems to be where the "mirror's" glass would have been held.

[Knowledge Arcana Check: 1+3=4] Owen doesn't recognize the purpose of the device, nor can he identify any of the glyphs or symbols upon it.

Being not really that interested in a broken arcane apparatus, Azten's curiosity is more piqued by the cave-in.

"The walls have seemed to be in pretty good structural shape so far - I wonder what made this rockfall. A sprung trap perhaps? Azten thinks to himself.

Hey guys, I'm going to poke around the rockfall a bit to see what caused it. Yell if you need me."

Azten looks around at the rockfall, but there is no way to determine what caused it. It does look very deep and very solid to his dwarven eyes, however.

A slight red covers the young Owen's face as he discovers the shards. "Azten, do you know any healing that helps me remove my foot from my mouth?" Owen shouts to the dwarf who is over examining the cave-in. Looking towards Alexi, Owen asks, "This just might be brought up again, won't it?"

Never knowing when things might come in handy, Owen picks up a shard and places it his pocket. "Well I don't know what this is, and I don't think it will be going anywhere," he says as he picks up his lantern.

Azten debates a few answers to Owen's somewhat rhetorical question then decides that just ignoring him for the moment is the best policy.

Once he has determined what he can from the rockfall, Azten goes back to the intersection with the main hallway to keep an eye on the eerie green glow from further down the passage.
