Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

Vitus holds his postion so that none of the Loyalists can advance next to their leader, Kellam, who is tearing the goo from Rockhorn's thrown tanglefoot bag from his body.

Rockhorn had an idea to charge the green-fire man, but between the young knight, big knight and the wall, he cannot use his best tactics. And he is slowest of the group. He decides to move behind them and then keep the line.
Rockhorn watches as both the young, deaf knight and Custodio retreat from the room. Tim is still in the way, however, so he follows the knight to where the genie retreated. The wild dwarf takes a position next to the knight in front of Lady Eeldai. The two of them stand guard in front of her to hold the line.

While Akos would like to have some extra time to cast, he realizes the group needs to be together and not moving right now might trap him with the gaggle of fanatics. But once he is at the door he realizes unique opportunity of they position and concentrates on the chaos of his heritage.

Calling upon confusing whispers from beyond the mortal ken, he afflicts the enemies with them. Akos considered even including Vitus and Kellen in the effect, but the resistance of the creature is still an unknown and Vitus, while strong of will is still only a human. He decides he would rather affect any unseen enemies behind the corner.
Akos moves next to Big Tim and sees that the high ceiling of the corridor allows him to pick just the right spot above the dead orc to place his spell. The magic bursts out among the Loyalists. The man closest to Vitus goes slack-jawed as the confusion spell muddles his mind. He begins muttering incoherently. The woman standing behind the prone Loyalist lying on the floor in Falen's grease spell eyes go wide with a mad gaze, however, the man on the floor seems unaffected.

Akos hears one of the voices from around the corner. "Commander? Commander!"

The Loremaster senses his spell befuddled one of the Loyalists' leaders.

"Another... coming through the portal... and, something else..." the living altar warns Akos telepathically. "Something truly foul!"

Vitus and Tim hear more footfalls in the corridor. There is also evil hissing sound.

"Ack! No, don't step there!" The voice says again, but then another voice calls out.

"Autar, do not get in its way!"

"Traon, something is wrong with the commander!"

"Don't worry about him," the new voice orders. "Get into the fight!"

From his higher vantage point, Tim sees another figure moving down the stairs behind the low wall. The creature isn't trying to hide. It looks like it is some sort of demon with horns and stringy black hair. Its skin is red and it wears patchworked chain armor and wields two longsword in his hands.

It turns its head towards Tim and glares at the Tall Knight. "Youuuuuu, Tyyymbeeeeck!"

There is something eerily familiar about the creature.

Then, the woman standing next to the prone Loyalist screams with a madness in her eyes. "NOOO! You will not touch me!" She brings up her mace and swings down at the prone Loyalist in front of her.

"Wait! What are you doing?" The man manages to shift his position enough to keep the woman's mace from caving in his skull. The weapon rebounds off the floor.

"She has been enchanted, Xix. The Loremaster's doing, no doubt," The woman behind the low wall warns him calmly. "Keep your guard up and get on your feet, if you can."

Meanwhile...
Tuck manages to finish tying the petrified wizard to Spritewing's back. He climbs down to tighten the last knot. "Spritewing, you're good to go!" The kobold urban ranger slaps the dungeonbred pegasus on the rump.

Spritewing dashes across the room, past Akos and Tim and is soon rushing towards the exit of the labyrinth.

"TIM!" Tuck calls out. "I need you hold the line for a bit longer. The kobold is trying to catch his breath as he takes a single step towards the door.

OOC: Tuck finishes his full-round action of tying the petrified wizard to Spritewing and then takes a 5-ft. step. At this point, only Akos and Tuck are still in the portal room.

@MetaVoid, how far is Spritewing going to move? He can move 180 feet with a double move while hasted.

With a single move (80 ft. in total), he can be right in front of Rockhorn. With a double move, Spritewing can reach the double doors leading out of the labyrinth.

Vitas was mildly relieved to see people retreating back but Tuck and Akos were still at risk of getting cut off. Sir Tymbeck was wounded and poisoned. If he fell, no-one would be able to move him out of harm's way.

Vitas decided to hold the line - just a bit longer. Despite the horror of the creature that was approaching them.

Gulp

He took a deep breath and brought his dagger, Glorious, in front of him then cast a spell with practiced ease, not giving anyone an opening to attack him. Touching the Giant Knight, the spell began to take effect.

Falen:
Falen whispers a spell and touches the back of Tymbeck’s weapon, imbuing it with ‘Keen Edge’. He then steps back 10’, leapfrogging Custodio, and, having some sudden clarity in his mind, mentally tells Vincenzo & Custodio to orderly withdraw, and Tymbeck to move hard to his left once he attacks the most forward enemy (formerly stuck in the alchemical goo). “I need line of sight.“ Not seeing Tuck yet, he also mentally urges him out of the room.

As Falen steps back, the Loyalist woman lying underfoot groans softly in her unconscious stupor.

Tymbeck shakes his head. "I cannot walk through walls, Falen." The large knight taps the wall directly to his left with his shield. "I must hold the line until Akos and Tuck are behind us." Tim glances back over his shoulder. "Can you fly up into the air and use your magic from above?

Falen does note the high ceiling. The walls of the corridor are 15-ft. high, but there aren't any ledges or hand holds to climb up anywhere. The walls are quite smooth.

Aust Thale said:

Tuck tries to mentally reply, unsure if Falen can hear him. "I had to help secure the stoned wizard. Hold them back a few seconds more."

Another Loyalist comes down the stairs. He holds a fine-looking composite shortbow in his hands and is dressed in the garb of one of Phelix's Loyalist thugs. The man takes aim at Big Tim and tries to shoot the Tall Knight over the heads of the Loyalists in front of him. Tim easily manages to block the arrow with his shield.

The woman half-ducked down behind the low wall of the stairs stands and fires two arrows from her own shortbow. The first flies towards Tim and he just manages to deflect it away to his left. The woman has some skill with the weapon.

She aims her second shot at Vitus, but her angle is not as good to the young cleric of Tyche. The arrow hits the walls next to Vitus and the babbling Loyalist standing in front of him.

@ScottDeWar_jr:
While Tim stands between him and the Loyalist leader beyond, Vincenzo is able to see enough of the man to target him with a magic missile. He brings forth the force missiles with a string of arcane words and gestures, which slam into Kellam Black one after another. The evil man seems unfazed by the damage that the Sectarian wizard inflicts.

The Loyalist lying on the floor tries to get to his feet while keeping an eye on his fellow Loyalist who attacked him moments ago. She's no longer focused on him. She looks like she's about to flee. The look on her face distracts the man enough that he isn't careful enough to avoid failing again.

"Damn it!"

OOC:
More tomorrow, depending on how hot it gets.

Tim focuses all his attention on the man in front of him. The Loyalist leader, as well, sizes up Tim's weaponry and defenses. Tim is the first to strike out. He flashes his blade once, twice, and then a third time with the added speed of Vincenzo's spells.

Kellam blocks all three attacks without difficultly using only his buckler, which Tim notices is made out of mithral.

Tim brings his shield, Rizvan, around to try to take off the man's head, but Kellam ducks down to avoid the blow. Then, the Loyalist counterattacks with his heavy mace. He lashes out once at Tim, but the Tall Knight blocks the strike with his sword and prepares for the next attack.

But, Kellam pivots and tries to take Vitus by surprise, but the young cleric of Tyche is able to avoid the weapon due to Glorious.

Farther down the corridor, Custodio looks down at the prone Loyalist on the floor. She still lies unconscious. The Vanquisher cleric considers trying to lift her or drag her down the corridor, but instead he chooses to cast a protective spell on Vincenzo and retreat down the corridor past Rockhorn and the others.

There, he sees that the genie continues to wait with the deaf-mute knight guarding her.

Custodio says to Rockhorn. "We probably shouldn't leave her behind. I could probably lift her, but I wouldn't be able to move far while carrying her."

He continues on towards the exit and to keep an eye on Gattas.

OOC: @MetaVoid, you're up for Rockhorn.

"Spritewing! Get up there and get the wizard to safety! Come back if you can! As soon as you can! Someone will speak dwarven above."
Shouts Rockhorn at his steed before looking at Custodio.
"Well, kill her then! Don't leave an enemy behind we cannot capture!"
He looks for the moment like he will charge at the prone woman, but stops before fully committing.
"I cannot lose so much space, I'm too slow without Spritewing."
He steps back motioning behind him to Eldai and deaf-mute knight to follow suit. Still, his hand is tense, axe at the ready.

Spritewing: run outside, fly up if possible, the statue is weightless, probably just needs Fly skill check? Maybe?

Rockhorn:
Free: speech
Free: 5' step back
Standard: ready an attack on an enemy that enters his reach

Akos is too close to melee for his own comfort. There are bad experiences with these guys that know to grapple him, to keep him silent and worst, that have ready cold iron weapons.

Still, there are normal humans among them.
"Tuck! We have to go! Run!"
"You, cultists, you really should take heed and abandon your master while you still have a chance. Dealing with these kind of critters..."
he motions toward Kellam and the creature behind the lines as he catches the eye of the woman in the back "...you really should reconsider your priorities. Humans have no way of coming on top when the top is taken by monsters. There is much to be said on allying with us. Or maybe staying with the altar depending on your own decision. Master Lowenan is safe even now along with his companions. Can you say the same?"
He looks over the humans in the group and nods, the effect spoiled partially by him retreating back toward the line of warriors.
"Tim, Vitus, you really should move back. Vitus!"

Standard: Racial: cast Charm monster on Maggs
Move: as far back toward Eldai as he can ( I think to just in front of Rockhorn on the map) - or next to the knight (in Rockhorns place) depending on what's difficult terrain on the door corner
