At this Ximix's head quickly turns towards Kathryn, "What Cave?"

"There is a cave nearby that has been home to some rather murderous spiders; fortunately they remain in the cave, or do not go very far out. A couple of months ago, my son Kyle said he saw some flashs of light coming from deep within the cave beyond the illumination of the sun."

"Yes, but despite the spiders, or rather because of them, dangers do not come from that direction. I don't know what Kyle saw, if he saw anything, but I don't think it is related to what is going on now. Kyle says he saw the light months ago, and we are only now under threat."

"Hrm, that sounds like our best bet. eather way, I'm gonna grab the shovels then go see what the son has to say. we can meet up where richard was found. sound good?" Razin will ask Ximix

ooc - looks like i found 2 guys to come help. a half orc paladin and a human rogue
i think that would make for a sweet party. just let me know when you want me to head back.


i could always just bring them back with me and just show them to the places weve already seen. if i run into one of the others ill just introduce them all and inform them all about the backstory.....by letting them read the posts....lol i guess......
any suggestions there DM?

Ximix nods to Razin by way of reply, then turns to Rich, "This cave... you say it has "murderous" spiders and yet they have not been a threat in the past? What makes you call them "murderous"? " Ximix pauses, but just as Rich takes a breath to answer, the Elf forges onward with his barrage of questions, " Is that the only place of note in the area? Has there been anything else going on here? Please, if you can think of anything, it may mean the difference of someone getting attacked . . . or worse."
The short priest stops finally, looking around, as if to say 'Well?'

OOC That will have to be up to Corcio, no cell phones to keep in touch =-) Seriously whatever you feel your character would do is the way to play it. It sounds like you have found one good option (Paladin) but don't we already have a rogue? In the end, when you show back up with whoever you have, that's what we'll work with. /OOC

Well, I guess they really aren't murderous. Its just what they do, but they have never really been a threat because they don't leave the cave during the day, and don't wander much more than about a half mile at night. In fact, their presence has been useful in the past.

Maybe 8 months ago, Richard found a patch of Pundak, he found a buyer who took delivery of the roots right here at his farm and paid him in cash. However, the buyer and an accomplice figured to steal the money back. They had the misfortune to try to hide in the cave until night fell. Both of them survived, and they even managed to a kill a spider. David heard the distant commontion, when we found them they could hardly move. I still have a couple of the legs.

"You know that there is always Mike the Magnificent." Julia pauses then continues. "A couple of years a ministrel came here and claimed that he knew the location of some buried treasue. He said it was cached by an army that passed through here a long time ago. Well we helped him search for a while, gave him room and board, but nothing came of it, and we had to ask him to leave. He be around occasionally to poke about, but I don't think I've seen him for at least 6 months. He was a pleasant enough fellow, he easily entertained the children with these little tricks he could do."

As he wife finishes speaking, Richard adds, "It is a good thing he doesn't show his face around here, I don't like the company he keeps, nor do I like strangers just poking around." At this point Richard briefly glares at the gathered adventurers.

OOC: Cell phones aside, we have to work the introduction of the characters from the RDI carefully. It strains credibilty to have Manon complete a 4+ hour trip in the middle of a single conversation.
