L1: Strange Doings (Erekose13 Judging)

"i doubt that the direction the attack came from will make a significant difference in this case. he obviously cant recall who or what attacked him. or even why. " manon speaks. "id suggest we let him rest for now. i think it may also be better if we gathered everyone together so we can keep track of the people on the farm. i dont think anyone should be out and about on their own at this point."

"I agree. Mostly." Quirking an eyebrow, Ximix looks at Manon. "It seems prudent to gather together those nearby, yet the direction of the attack is most certainly pertinant. It is just as likely that the offender struck from behind while using an illusion or similar effect to distract the victim, ehm, I mean Richard." Ximix gives a quick nod to Richard and turns to Razin, then focusses somewhere past his shoulder, his gaze far away again as he speaks almost to himself.
"We know that the vi . . . Richard was taking measurements to make a new path, correct?" The Elf blithely forges ahead after his question. "And we know that he heard something that attracted his attention off the path, something that then sounded like voices, a rustling nearby and then darkness... most probably magical in origin, and then he was struck with a blunt instrument to the base of the back of the head.
From this we can surmise that who or whatever attacked him was fairly stealthy... and from the position of the wound it is possible that the attacker was smaller than Richard... and of course capable of casting some form of spells.
Turning quickly in place the priest fixes the young women and Rich with his stare, "Does that describe anyone you know?"

[sblock=DM]The line I was wondering about (and wanting to use the Knowledge skill on), was
"I was surrounded by darkness. It surrounded me in ribbons; crackling and wiggling."
I am quite sure this is not related to skeletons, I was simply hoping it would ring a bell with some other understanding of the undead and their abilities, using my original Knowledge roll of 17... or perhaps my ancestral knowledge of the Fey? Knowledge roll=4 darnit! Nevermind. *sulks*
I thought I was on to something there![/sblock]

Julia answers, "No, I cannot think of anyone who would do this to Richard." Rich adds, "Nor do I."

OOC: Yeah, I was really only providing some flavor text. Ximix does not identify what Richard observed.

Ximix purses his lips, a frown writ on his fine features, and turns to his companions. His face softens, eyes wide and he gives a small shrug.
"How then shall we proceed?"

"well if there are people still out and about i say we go get them..... other than that all i can suggest is that we scout around the area some more until it gets dark then well post a watch in some place were we can observe the area well." the rogue says stepping outside the house.he gets a lay of the area and gauges the height of the farmhouses looking for vantage points or anythign that might give him some advantage.

ooc - great a nat 20 to LOOK around outside. lol oh well a 20 is a 20 +5 for the mod

also could we get an estimate of the time it is.

OOC:

It is around 1:00 in the afternoon. The farms are spread far enough apart that they cannot be seen from each other. There are stands of trees in the way. There are fenced pastures and some fields. Your group may be able to find a place to observe the bulk of two farms, but you will not be able to cover all three from a single location. The trails, path, and roads to and from each farm are all obscured at some point by wooded areas.

I suggest you formulate among yourselves a plan of action. I will answer what questions may arise both in character and out of character. I have anticipated a couple of actions your group may take to discover the truth of the situation, but I will try to adapt to any plans you make.

On a related note: Is your group going to return to the Red Dragon Inn to recruit additional help? I know that it was mentioned as a possibility previously.

Manon ponders all that is transpiring inside the farm house. standing halfway in the door and half out says "Well i can tell you personally, i realize the strategic value of an attack made from the rear." He plays with his dagger once again. "However at this point the attack is over and we should move on to more pressing matters, like ensuring the safety of the farmers." He points the tip of the dagger at the various people in a non threatening way.
"We know there might be a person of shorter stature with some knowledge of magic about who is causing mischief. i say we find ourselves a vantage point and try and observe the widest area possible. do any of you have a way to communicate over distance? otherwise we will have to be relatively close together." the rogue looks out around the area again as he speaks. "then we just wait around and see if trouble presents itself."

ooc - personally i dont think we need to head back to the tavern as of yet. HOWEVER if ANYONE else wishes to go get the paladin i say we go and fetch him.

[sblock=OOC: ] I will follow along with the group at this point, I am leaving on vacation, will be back on Saturday at the earliest.
I have no problem retrieving the Pally, though we may be able to handle things ourselves...

Ximix has a "Command" spell at the ready, if a foe presents themselves he will use it to command "sleep" unless it is a fey in which case he'll not bother with mind magic and keep the command and his detection spell for use in healing should the need arise.
May you all have a Blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

ooc - well seeing as how its really just me and razin occasionally now i think ill just wait around and see what happens. if i feel that nothing else is going to happen....or if i need more help i shall head to the red dragon inn and get the pally and whoever else may join us.
or just plop down for a drink if i feel the farmers are OK. but i doubt that will be the case. lol

Public Service Message

OOC: I will be unavailable until saturday. Feel free to discuss and speculate. You may even return to Orussus if you desire. As I mentioned before, it is currently around 1:00 in the afternoon, and walking back to Orussus takes about 2 hours.

ooc - seeing as how there hasnt bbeen too much activity going on here...i think i might take ximix and whoever else is still here and head back to the tavern and recruit some more hands.

any thoughts?
anyone
