Silent Night

Before resting for the night Ximix and Garrit discuss the stones. (OOC: Knowledge checks reveal nothing beyond that which I have already revealed. You may of course continue whatever speculations you might have in charcter.)

Jallembo takes a walk around the farms to familiarize himself with the layout. The three farms are roughly clustered together. However it is impossible to find a location from which one might observe more than one house at a time. None of the houses seem particularly more opulant than the others. Making a quick pass by the Tey's, Jallembo sees Richard in a room. He has a short chain in front of him. It is floating, straight and rigid, without any apparent means of support.

-------

Manon takes the first watch. Amazingly the ambient sounds reduce noticeably as the night lengthens. The most exciting occurrance is when he hears the hooting of an owl.

Garrit and Jallembo take the second watch. Jallembo takes his leave, and sneaks into the quiet night, determined to observe the Teys.

[sblock=Jallembo]He makes his way stealthily towards the house. Just outside of a windows, Jallembo trips over a length of chain hidden in the shadows, making more noise than he would have liked. Jallembo pauses for a second, waiting for any clue that he was discovered. Nothing happens. Almost feeling safe, Jallembo notices that a light has suddenly been lit. Jallembo quickly hides. Richard Tey appears at a door with a lamp. He looks carefully around, but cannot find the hidden Jallembo. He returns to his house, where the light remains lit.[/sblock]

EDITED POST

hum, Richard has a few tricks in his bag.. he's not telling us everything thinks Jallembo
as he sees the chain 'float' in front of Richard.

He returns to the group and informs them of his findings: "Guys, I.. I was walking in the
hamlet to get a feel for the place when I walked by the Tey's house. There, by the window,
I saw Richard.. It.. it was weird: a chain was floating in the air in front of him!! I think
Richard is a bit of a wizard.. It's puzzling.. He's definitely hiding something from us.. I'll go
and have a look tonight again during my watch.."

Later, during his night watch

Jallembo comes quietly to the Tey's house again, hoping to hear or discover something new.
As he gets closer to the window, he trips on the chain and has to hide quickly as Richard
checks outside.
Then after the initial scare and a minute hiding in darkness, Jallembo leaves his hiding position
to get back close to the window. this chain was some kind of alarm device? he thinks
as he takes extra care not to hit the chain or else.
He spies whatever information he can gather and walks round the house looking for other 'chains'.

[sblock=DM]here are my rolls for the night trip.
Move silently (1d20+9=27)

Hide (1d20+9=12)

not taken into account the darkness that may affect my move silently adversely and my
hiding positively..
if Jallembo is ok, let me know and I'll go to inform Garrit and the others.[/sblock]

[sblock=DM]if I understand you correctly, Jallembo saw him from a distance and thru the window
with a chain floating in front of him. Jallembo was say maybe 4 meters away. then when he
walked to get closer to the window, he tripped on another chain and that chain just made
the sound any normal chain would do when tripped on, correct?[/sblock]

[sblock=Jallembo]OOC: Jallembo makes two trips to the Tey's home. The first is before everyone goes to sleep. This first visit is during the time Jallembo wanders around the farms, getting a feel for the geography. This is the time Jallembo sees Richard's floating chain.

The second time is during the middle of the night during Garrit and Jallembo's turn at the watch. Jallembo is currently hiding near the Tey's home. He will have to make hide and move silently checks to avoid detection by the Tey family.[/sblock]

OOC: From earlier - Garrit recognizes the symbols on the stones. The first symbol, the one shared by two of the stones means, "Foresight." The second symbol means, "to map." /OOC

Ximix considers the stones at every opportunity, yet he cannot seem to unlock their hidden message - which he has become certain is just out of reach.
As the day draws to a close Ximix takes the time to change his two remaining spells.
First he casts Comprehend Languages and then Guidance as he tries, once again, to discern the meaning behind these symbols with his new comprehension of the language used.
His insight is improved. (23, Rolled 22+1 from Guidance)
The question is, will his insight, combined with discussion with Garrit (can I get a +3 for Aid Another from Garrit?) yield any further understanding of what these stones are doing here...

Are they, perhaps, tied in with the magic chain which Ximix detected earlier today in Richard Tey's home? Ximix will surely add this information to the discussion with Garrit.

OOC: EDIT: The funny thing is that my post concerning the chain was independant of the others . . . I wrote it earlier then forgot about it and then re-wrote it and posted, before looking back at the updated thread =-)
I wonder if we are on to something here or if Richard just has a neat toy . . . heh heh. /OOC

holding his dagger firmly in hand at the sound of the owl, manon freezes for a moment then continues to observe the night. bored more than anything. and plays with his daggers until his watch is over.. once its over, he slumbers deeply.

Now and Then

Ximix and Garrit confer to further discuss the stones. Ximix casts some of the spells he has received from Gliran. Under the effects of Comprehend Languages, Ximix sees that Garrit was largely correct in his interpretation, the first two stones might be more correctly interpreted as Forewarned. The third stone might be more correctly interpreted as "This is my place." Beyond this the stones remain a mystery.

-----

Jallembo returns from his midnight mission. Soon after, Garrit and Jallembo notice two figures approaching the barn. It turns out to be Mr. and Mrs. Tey. "I heard a noise near my house. I guess it is your job to investigate." explains Mr. Tey.

OOC: [sblock=Jallembo]The noise of the chain, did not seem to be magicly enhanced.[/sblock]

As a Palladin of Hyrag, what is Garrit's Code of Conduct? Although not really necessary, I think it would be nice to know. Otherwise, I will simply use the code of conduct presented in the SRD.
