L4W Discussion Thread III

Question: While there seems to be some uncertainty on the point, I think the consensus would be that sneak attack is not applicable to melee sorcerer powers delivered via a dagger even in melee (via the Sorcerous Blade Channeling feat) mainly because it seems to be assumed that sneak attack can only be delivered through powers with the Weapon keyword. Anyone else support or counter this view? I'm looking to see if Dang't would gain much out of Rogue MCing.

If weapon focus can be applied to weapons being used as implements, which it can, I'd think sneak attack would work similarly. I don't know that for certain but it makes sense to me. If you check the rules forum over at WotC's site I bet there are a dozen threads about this topic with all the arguments and cites already handily written up.

I did a search recently and the arguments seemed to be a wash with a slight big on the "nay" side... until I found this. So, Oni appears to be right. Makes Dang't happy, that does. Of course, its usefulness is once per encounter I he needs two feats to do it regularly. Thanks!

Hrav got to level 3 by adventuring, and I used 9 of the 12 DM credit's I've earned thus far to get him up to level 4.

Using a basic melee attack with Sneak Attack, he does 1d10+5+2d8+4 damage. :D

(Informational PDF is slightly off - can't add the Bacartan +1 to Perception, and for some reason large shurikens don't click with the Rogue Weapon Talent, they should do 1d8 damage)

I had thought about doing a doppleganger bard instead, but with a request for another defender or leader, I figured that it would be best to have someone who could function as a secondary defender as well.

Hrav is multi'd with fighter, too, so once per fight he can mark someone. :)

Congrats to the level 3's and 4's everyone.

I have one approval for Grakk. Looking for one more :)

thanks

i've e-mailed the latest copy of grakk to the judges

Since this seems to be the place to put it: I sent in a request for approval on a character (under the name Jedoa Skyclaw) 3 days ago. I'm not sure what the general waiting time or queue length is, but I saw that if it's more than a week to send an email on the character creation guide. Not quite a week, but it's been a half, so a forum post seems like a intermediate nudge.

There's one minor issue, I decided on a character background shift (math stayed the same) from Savage Lands to Valley of Bone, so the actual character name shown on the stats is Matlal Atzintli. I looked over the characters in L4W currently and decided the new decision would serve better for role playing. Jamaican accented headhunter barbarian is more amusing than stereotypical noble savage from the wilds. Didn't make a new wiki page because I figured 2 different requests/emails might be problematic to the review process.

Also: http://www.enworld.org/wiki/index.php/L4W:PC:Jedoa_Skyclaw_(Ecce) for ease of use.

Ecce, you can just rename the page, and in fact I'd recommend it. Just hit the "move" button on the wiki page and give it the new name. Links to the "Jedoa Skyclaw" page will automatically redirected to the new page. Renaming the page is better than constantly having to remember that the character in the page doesn't match the page name in the future for anyone who wants to find Matlal.

Well, that makes everything much easier. Wiki skills +1
