Question:

I see in different character sheets that powers and feats are linked to descriptions. Are these descriptions from the D&D Compendium? If so, how do you copy them. If they are not from there, where do you get them?

Nevermind: I think I figured it out :)

Be sure to check out the upcoming concert in the Hanged Man!

What’s that? Your PC is on an “ad-ven-ture” and won’t be able to make it?

Don’t worry, we got scrying sensors transmitting live from the scene to city squares of all the big cities, dungeons, and dragon lairs of the Proximate Isles!

(Still working on a so-called “Cable” ritual to Near Lands. Far Lands are out of luck.)

So you might have noticed that even though enworld is "back" it's almost unusably slow.

Now, I don't think moving L4W to another board is a good idea, or even possible, because then it's not enworld-related anymore and we'd suffer a huge loss of players (not to mention the problems with moving all the existing content over).

But I think we should move the wiki, so that we can at least look at character sheets and edit setting details. It was already slow, but now it's just impossible to deal with. Has anyone ever used Obsidian Portal?

I glanced around it briefly the other day, but I wasn't thinking about it with L4W in mind. I'll have to look again. It's true that the wiki has always been worse than the forums here, and it would be easier to move that over.

Some questions, just in case anybody has the answers before I get around to looking myself: Does it run MediaWiki? I.e., can we keep our templates, or will we need to recode all the character sheets? Actually that's all I'm coming up with, so I guess it's just one question.

I've used OP for storage for a game I play in here and it seems good, but the wiki I think is different. If you want some more info about it PM Mowgli as he's the DM for that game.

I use it for my RL campaign. It does not use MediaWiki. It has no templates and no categories (though tags can be used for that purpose). It uses a different formatting engine than MediaWiki (Textile). So it won't work as easily as the system here.
