Lack of water

And don't anyone even *think* about suggesting that water is good because it cleanses your body of toxins unless you want a good beatdown.

But Tom Cruise told me it's true; and he knows the history of water.

This is EN World - not Mortal Kombat. :)

It's just come to mind how little fluids I drink in a day, I might have a pint of milk in the morning with my cheerios, and a half-pint of juice, maybe two of those. But rarely any more. I've heard that you should have 8 glasses of water every day, but what size of glass? Do you have to? Whats the safe limit?

The typical saying is 8 glasses of water, but I'll be damned if you can find that actually repeated anywhere in nutritional studies etc. That rather spurious suggestion seems to first show up in some half-baked self help book written by a guy with no formal medical training, but for whatever reason it got repeated and latched onto by pop health writers and the 'it cleans you of toxins!' crowd. I'll have to see if I can find a reference for that, because I read something recently on that little elusive but oft mentioned '8 glasses of water a day' etc thing.

You frankly get most of your daily need of water in the food you eat, anything else on top of that is just extra, neither doing you much good or doing you any harm. It's possible to drink too much water yes, but it's rather rare.

Exceedingly rare. Most of the cases of "water intoxication" on record are due to drugs, especially in recent years Ectasy. If you drink way, way, way too much water without being able to let it pass through your system, the amount of solutes in your body decreases. Since the electrolytic effects that solutes have allow your nerves to work, this is a bad thing.

Or something like that.

Demiurge out.

Why not? It's true. Have a drug test coming up and you just smoked a bunch of dope? Drink water and pee until it hurts. Seriously.

You know those 24oz Poland Spring water bottles? I easily drink 5-6 of those per day, and I don't do any kind of drugs whatsoever.
