Lamentation of Lolth - Chapter X

Majin

First Post
Lord Morn will supply the party with any mounts needed or normal supplies. Anything magical/blessed he unfortunately cannot help out with.

Heading to the crypts...

Before you, the trail winds past a low, rounded hill dotted with jutting boulders and dense briar patches. Sere grasses crown its barren slopes. Beyond this first rampart, a long chain of rugged hills stretches away to the south and the east, the Dagger Hills. The trail turns here and continues south, skirting the lower slopes.

Two old, small, stone buildings stand here in the shadow of the hill. The ruined shells of several more lie nearby, overgrown with tough brown grass. A niche has been cut in the hillside just past the surface buildings. Within it, a stone door stands closed in a masonry alcove.

After he has been given the way to the crypt, Sielwoodan have led the group to it. He has been scouting foward and when he finally come into sight of the ruined building he stops and take a moment to observe from an hiding point. After a moment, seeing no activity, he will look for any sign of passage from travellers and animals. He will tries to do all that before he is catched up by the group.

Ayden

First Post
Lost in his thoughts, the journey to the crypt passes quickly for Ayden. When the others stopped to wait for Sielwoodan's return, Ayden allowed the borrowed mount to begin grazing.

~And so we shall see if we are chasing phantoms, or if these shades have steel teeth..~

The wood elf accepted he needed to bring with him more than his trusty blade, reluctantly. It served him in the past well enough.
Sielwoodan gave the party time to re-equip themselves and Calenthang followed Laurent to Lord Morn's manner to acquire a heavy-headed mace; a little unbalanced, but it was held much like a sword. It would have to do in times of need.
Calenthang raised his eyebrows at Laurent's comment to show what he thought of it.

Calenthang watched Sielwoodan move off from the main group, quickly and quietly, and thought of his recent lone adventures. Although the ranger was half again more skilled than the dark hunter at keeping out of sight and moving without making a sound, in the Underdark, Sielwoodan would need light to see where Calenthang did not. In the Underdark, Calenthang would be their vanguard.
He eyed those lazy enough to bring mounts disdainfully while he waited on Sielwoodan's return.

Laurent regards Calenthang's choice with approval,
"It's not elegant and it's not you; but we may well be glad of it. I think we are as well prepared now as we shall ever be, so let's be about it."

~ Delving ~

Laurent is silent during the trip outwards, drawing in the sensations of the surface world for what may be the last time in a while, "Great Princess of Beasts, though we now go into the belly of the earth we do not go beyond thy sight. Bless this audacious enterprise as we seek vengance against those who would despoil and kill. And let me not forget that even though I may travel into the very depths of the earth I will still find wonders of nature to admire, different though they may be from that I have thus far seen."

As they arrive he dismounts to talk to and pats his mount whilst awaiting for Sielwoden to report back, acutely aware that this may be the last friendly animal he sees for quite some time, "I'll take a quick look about the ruins once Sielwoden is done. No point getting in the way or confusing any spores."

Teleri was mostly silent, concentrating on enjoying the last sensations of sun, wind, forest and grass before delving deep into the Underdark. Though reunited with her old friends, they had changed as much or more than she. I hope we can make this work. She thought to herself.

Sielwoodan's study of the area is routine as the elf notices no one about, and the passage of animals rather sparser than usual.

Ahead of him, the ranger can see great stone double doors barring the entrance to an ancient mausoleum. The doors or the lintel may once have borne an inscription or crest, but centuries of wind and rain have erased any such marking, just as they have slowly eroded the structure of the building itself, leaving cracked walls and crumbing mortar in their wake.

Laurent wraps the Dwarvenbelt through his loops and gets ready to check the ruins out, "I'll check those buildings out, a couple look like they might still be useable. There probably won't be anything to find, but we might find some information or a clue of somesort. Anyone else want to run overwatch?" he inclines his head and looks at the whole group and Calenthang in particular.

"A thought does occur, if we find that the raiders are indeed based here it might be an idea to wait for them and ambush them outside as they head to their next raid. That way the odds might be more in our favour," he brings out an arrow and his bow and carries both in his left hand whilst he scouts. Should this turn up nothing he will end up at the doors and examine them.

Calenthang drew his sword and pointed it in front of him for Laurent to lead the way. While the bard was looking around, the elven hunter kept his eyes peeled for any signs of hostility or secret passages.

Teleri keeps to the rear out of habit, her bow drawn and arrow notched, blue eyes searching the dark that now seems as bright as day to her. She also keeps to the rear knowing that she can't move as silently as her companions. And apparently in the two years that she spent on her own, she has learned the value of not talking when necessary.
