"Laming up" non-compound monster names!

That's it, I quit! This thread has officially caused me to give up playing Dungeons & Dragons forever.

From this day forth my only game of choice shall be DeepDwellings & LootLizards, PostThirdPreFifth Edition.

I've already got my DonkeyHorse (at Paragon level it upgrades to a Wildmind Braybeast) and my LongStick PitPoker. What other equipment do you folks recommend?

(This thread has been an absolute blast to read!)

Don your crushdeflecting brainbuckets and sharpen your ironmetal slashingsticks!
Whip out your woodwrought spellflingers!
Get some nonbottomless lootbags, and light your quickburning flamesticks!
'Cuz it's time take on the pointytoothed foulbeasts and take their yellowmetal shinydisks!

Let's not just redescribe classic monsters & classes in that "4Ed style", lets take a stab at what a similar naming convention would mean in other genres of RPGS...

The following 4E-style portmanteaus are for Vampire: the Masqerade. (Which admittedly has its own naming convention issues, but it's still fun to imagine. :))

Brujah: Quickrage Leatherpunk.
Gangrel: Beastface Wildwanderer.
Malkavian: Chaosthrall Nutjob.
Nosferatu: Sewerswim Stinkface.
Toreador: Megapretension Dramaqueen.
Tremere: Spellbound Pyramidschemer.
Ventrue: Highborn Pickysipper.

Assamite: Shadowsneak Guzzleglutton.
Follower of Set: Sneakytrick Snakelover.
Giovanni: Fetishyum Corpselover.
Ravnos: Stickyfinger Trickjerk.

Lasombra: Shadowdark Gothangst.
Tzimisce: Squishmeat Torturepervert.

Camarilla: Bloodsipper Hideyclub.
Sabbat: Elderscorn Packbeasts.
Anarch: Gothpunk Lawhaters.
Inconnu: Skulkhide Fellowfear.

Prince: Hideyclub Lawgiver.
Seneschal: Lawgiver Secondstring.
Primogen: Oldface Favorclub.
Sheriff: Hideyrule Breachkiller.
Scourge: Murderfist Borderjudge.
Harpy: Divaspat Rumorwielder.
Keeper of Elysium: Hideyclub Tidycity.

Neonate: Newblood Easysquish.
Ancilla: Youngold Elderspawn.
Elder: Cityruler Oldface.
Methuselah: Megaelder Tombsleeper.
Antediluvian: Ancientblood Clanfounder.

Kine: Hideprompter Bloodsnack.
Childe: Newkid Bloodguzzler.
Sire: Olderblood Undeathparent.

Mmm. Baconman.

Angrysnort baconmen are to be particularly feared when the have levels in wildrager meatshield and wield twofisted critcausers.

Well, in case you run into Exliving Shufflemen, Tux-Dressed Bloodsuckers, or even Necropotent Deadcasters, you'll probably want some Holy-Hydro...probably in some kind of Throwbreaking Vials.

Its been nearly 12 months since this thread died. It was one of my favorites on ENWorld in a long time.

Since that time we've had the Monster Manual 3, Dark Sun Creature Catalog, and the Monster Vault (to name a few).

As I look over these books, which of course share the new 'final' monster math, I notice that the lame non-compound name trend of the early 4e books has dramatically lessened. Most of the new monsters have simple descriptive names.

Yet again, I think WotC was listening to the humorous joking of their fans. I think they took us seriously. For example, they even gave us straight elemental monsters, having moved away from monsters compound elemental.

Well I miss the lame names.

I think we should brainstorm for the Monster Vault 2 and make WotC revert.

Have any new lame?

- Lava Snowcone Flaresickle Archon
- Cuddledeath Mimic
- Shardmind Scattermind
