Yes. Good guys vs. undead dragon. Result? Swiftly retreating dragon.

While AMF will knock out the critters, AMF is remarkably small and the buggers can just stay outside and shoot. The AMF won't stop the beams is the problem. Neither will magic circle against good.

Summoning Lantern Archons is fabulously clever!

It is a great way to bypass SR, DR, reach and the standard wards.

Do lantern archons get SR? Because the caster of AMF must defeat their SR to banish them. Of course, that should be an easy task, but against multiple lantern archons, probably 1 or 2 will stick around.

Magic Circle against Good gives you +2 to AC against them , but it doesn't stack with a Ring of Protection or Shield of Faith spell.

Banishment and Dismissal work on them, of course.

Lantern Archons are very cool.

Drawbacks:

AC 15
4 hp
Attack is only at +2 (even though it is a ranged touch)
Range is only 0 feet (plenty good enough for land-bound creatures, though.)
Saves are only +2/+2/+2

So they are good, but fragile.

Treasure Hauling!

Lantern Archons also excel at Treasure Hauling.

Teleport without error at will 50lb limit. Just have them drop it off at your Home Base.

Scoop, Pop, Chink, Pop, Scoop, Pop Chink. You'll have that dragons horde cleaned out in a few seconds.

Cast Delayed Blast (Energy Substitution Lightning) Fireball in a balsa wood box and have the Archon Deliver it to a local Bad Guy. Set it to go off in 1 round. Archon is Immune and can teleport back with one of the Baddies Magic Items.

Lanter Archons make great lightsources for a big politcal party. With the Arua of Menace and a Magic CIrcle vs Evil the riff-raff will defintly want to stay away. Our last High level game we Gated in 30 of these things and had them follow around anyone we suspected of being evil.

They also have an Int of 6, while not too smart they can follow insturctions pretty well and cope with unexpected situations (Wis 11).

They can also cast the Aid spell at will, buffing themselves (good idea given thier h.p.) and perhaps the party.
