Last night I had a pleasant surprise

I walked into the only remaining gaming store in my city after several months absence and found that they had expanded! Their games area spread into an 15' X 15' alcove at the expense of part of a LAN area. It was hard to judge what types of products were taking up more shelf space, because things got rearranged, but most of the new alcove was occupied up by part of their family board games collection like Ticket to Ride, plus Warhammer and miniatures.

Another interesting thing is that the ratio of Pathfinder to D&D shelf space was over 2:1 - more than I remember from last time.

That is nice to hear :) it is always good to see an expansive store to have an existing one expand is even nicer. I wish we had more gaming stores closer to where I live. Unfortunately it seems for now to be a limited market in my area.

I find that gaming stores are becoming a dying breed in most areas. It's hard to compete with online retailers. However a strange observation of mine is that when you find one there is usually a competitor nearby. Perhaps Yoda was right "Always two, there are".
