Lava Rules..

So, you die with no save now? So I could create various lava creation spells that can kill any monster or character without a saving throw?

I see this being broken. :P

It does not seem consistent, although I haven't seen the falling rules yet.

The various mechanics that allow you to move your opponent cause me to think that DM's won't be putting much lava in the dungeon at lower levels.

Well, they stated falling into lava, which means in my books, *full body splat! into lava*

I imagine any kind of lava spell, there would be a attack vs. a defence, probably be a powerful daily and come with if miss: take half damage (from splatter).

Lava spells don't worry me. It's the DM's that like to have streams of lava flowing through their dungeons with mobs of kobolds grappling. You could design this killer 4e dungeon right now. :D

Note, you would not really fall INTO lava, you would fall ONTO lava. Lava is too dense for your body to sink in-- just like a [inflated, not popped] baloon won't sink in a pool full of water, you won't sink into liquid basalt, but would float on the top. Of course-- you'd be ON FIRE, covered in the splashed lava-- so instant death I have no problems with!

Yeah, and I expect that you could have any number of lava-based attacks (hurled, possibly spell-based, etc.), it'll just be full-on immersion that would kill you outright...

Man, it's not looking good for my red dragons to rise from the lava, surrounded by magma elemental minions. :(

Bah, just say it is immune, I doubt your players will nit-pik you on a neat story/monster event.
