Remember that on the ethereal plane movement is half speed, at least according to the blink spell.

Would a ghost be bound by that, or is it a limitation of 'blinking'?

If you are blinking, you move three quarters speed, because half the time you are on the Ethereal Plane, and movement on the Ethereal Plane is at half rate. This is all according to the text of blink.

My opinion is that a manifested ghost would not be bound by that. That is how we have been playing it. I cannot remember a specific case of a ghost coming in unmanifested.

The half speed rule is also confirmed in ethereal jaunt, but there's no mention of it in the section on the etheral plane. Bizarre. I'm not sure I ever noticed that.

In any case - the idea is to Manifest inside the sphere, though that may be impossible. If so, it's a draw. It's the only way I can think of to get an AoO if it tries moving away.
