Round 470: One of the images goes out of sync and Vera is hit for 0 from the SE. Vera misses and has 22 hp.

Round 471: Vera is hit for two and makes an image disappear.

Round 472: Vera is hit for 0 and misses. She has 24 hp left.

Round 473: Vera is hit for 4 and makes an image disappear.

Round 474: Vera is hit for 0 and makes an image disappear. 24 hp, 4 images.

Round 475: Vera is hit for 6 and makes an image disappear. 20 hp, 3 images.

Round 476: She is hit for 6 and misses. 16 hp.

Round 477: She is hit for 1 and misses. 17 hp.

Round 478: She is not hit and makes an image disappear. 19 hp, 2 images.

Round 479: She is hit for 2 and makes an image disappear. 19 hp, 1 image.

Round 480: The last image concentrates. Vera misses the AoO. An extra seven images appear.

What does Vera do now?
 

Repeat. If down to 1 image again, take the 50/50 shot and try to dominate the creature. Statistically Vera has to land a punch eventually...or maybe more than one. Hopefully this thing will run out of spellcasting at some point and become a blood bank.

Next in round 484 for Lawful Evil is an electrum clockwork horror (MM II, under clockwork horror).
 

OOC: I'm getting about as much joy from undead as I2K is from dragons. However, I have been looking forward to getting these nasty bugs into the arena.

A 4-legged mechanical arachnid enters the arena. A burnished silver-gold color, it has a saw blade where a mouth should be, and a large amethyst embedded in the top of it's head. With audible whirrs and clicks, it's scuttles to 60n 25e and stops cold. [ready action to attack with a dart if something comes within 40']
 

OOC: My joy comes from plant creatures.

Round 485: A ten-foot diameter storm cloud, crackling with lightning, charges into the arena to 60N30E10Z. The dart misses (natural 1). The storm cloud slams (rolled 16+2(charge)+1(higher ground)=19) the arachnid for 14 points of damage. The slam is accompanied by the crackle of electricity, but the arachnid ignores that. The arachnid has 28 HP remaining. The arachnid goes first in round 486.
 

Can I do anything? I'm not going to out run this thing, and if it has 10' reach, I can't touch it either. I suppose he'll fire darts on the defensive in the hopes of delivering some damage.

First for Lawful Evil in round 489 is a barghest (Monster Manual).

Round 489: "I don't think so, Bruno," says the cloud (rolled 18 Will save).
The cloud flies to 110N30E10Z and slams (rolled 28+1=29 for HG) Bruno for 10-5=5 bludgeoning and 1 point of electrical damage. Bruno has 27 HP remaining.
