Hm... is there a specific place I'm supposed to go to ask why my code is broken if I can't find the break myself, either through the example profile, the help template or another players profile?

I seem to have broken my summary section code, and have NO clue how it broke. If it helps anyone, I used Stonegod's format instead of the example profile(mostly the same), as I got confused and followed a Living 4th comment on borrowing from other players.

Character Building is where such things have traditionally gone, not like it really matters though. In the future, it would help if you could also link your sheet so that people can find it easily and see what the problem is.

I'm currently looking for the problem, although I don't have a lot of time right now.

Got it. You have the following lines in your code:

|Items={{LEB:CS:PCStatBlockItem
{{LEB:CS:PCStatBlockItem

You only want one of those "{{LEB:CS:PCStatBlockItem"s to be there.

Whoops, my mistake, I thought I would wait to post links and go more into the problem once I knew where to take it.

Ah, thanks greatly. Much appreciated.

Ok, I'm having real trouble understanding the Garrote rules...

Can anyone explain this to me?

Do I have to take the grab action to grab with the garrote, or does a normal attack grab with it? I thought the former, but am finding most people talking about the latter.

Do I have to take the grab action in order to grab with the garrote? does it get a proficiency bonus? Would it use the enchantment on a magic garrote? Would it stack with improved grab?

Does it just makes an at-will, encounter, daily, a grab attack with the trade out being a much lower damage die? Does that stack with improved grab?

I don't have any idea how to interpret this wording...

Garrote, someone proficient with the garrote can use it to deal damage as part of a grab attack.

The problem I'm having, is that it says "as part of a grab attack." Does this mean an attack that grabs? The grab action?

confused...

Garrote 101

You may use a garrote as a weapon and you use the stats listed.

OR

You may use it as a 'buff' to grab attacks. If you make the str vs ref grab attack, you deal the garrote damage. If you have the multi-class feat, they take a -2 to escape.

You sustain the grab with a minor action. That leaves you with a non-grab attack with the garrote with your standard action every round after the first that the enemy doesn't escape. If you have the multiclass feat you also have combat advantage.

So to answer your questions.
You make a normal grab attack to grab. str vs ref
There is NO magic or prof added to this roll.
Improved grab adds to grab attack but not attacks from the second round on. However magic and prof would.
You may not grab with your powers [unless the powers already grab]. However you could use powers after a grab. Again imp grab does nothing after the first grab.

Awesome!

That is how I originally thought it worked, but after reading a few articles on-line had confused myself.

Thanks elecgraystone!

Your welcome. The confusion is understandable. I misread it the first time too.

The multi-class garrote is a super-sweet rogue weapon. A light blade that you get combat advantage every round after the first? What's not to like there? ;)

Another thing to remember is the damage you do with the grab isn't the result of a successful weapon attack. Lets say you have a flaming garrote +1, you've activated the at-will and use it in a grab attack. The damage would be fire [you did damage with the weapon] but you wouldn't be able use the daily weapon power since you didn't hit with the weapon; you hit with the grab. That clears up everything I can think of.

I'm going to be using the Garrote in conjunction with Assassin, but may take the rogue multi-class just for that sweet once per encounter sneak attack love.

EDIT:
I could take Garrote Training and Sneak of Shadows, right?

It won't let me in the CB, but I think it is counting Garrote Training as a multi-class feat, and we don't here.

We're doing the same thing here as we did in living 4th right? If so, then yes you could. Garrote Training is listed as a multiclass feat so I'm sure that's the problem with CB.

Assassin huh? Not bad, but the garrote really shines for a rogue. You shouldn't have a problem using your sneak attack from the feat though. :)

EDIT: As I recall the assassin has a lot of teleporting/moving powers doesn't it? How is that going to interact with your garrote? I think you'd lose your grab a lot.

Shadow Darts, Cloaking Mist, and Targeted For Death, are all non-teleport powers. Two of them ranged, and one is a close blast.

I can use the Garrote as an implement (Ki focus), and still get combat advantage from my grabbed target. Two of the powers above would provoke, one wouldn't.

As for the At-will powers, as a human I got three, so I picked powers that made the best use of the Garrote.

The only teleporting he does is with Shadow Step, and I get control over that.
