I wasn't anticipating the high/heavy damage. Though, the sorcerer I built for a Talking the Talk game seemed pretty status based itself.

One of the reasons the Controller appealed is I like AoE. Sorcerer has that but is 1. One of the most common classes on LEB atm, and 2. More of a striker than a controller, and 3. Most of it's AoE's seemed to be Close type stuff.
The best controller type sorcerer I've found is a halfling storm sorcerer. You can take all multi-hit/AoE powers and you can take nimble spellcaster so you don't provoke casting your AoE's. Blast a bunch of people close or far and several powers have a 'hole' in the middle so you can even drop them on yourself. Range in an average of 10, so it's not bad in that department. Buy a lightning dagger and ALL your powers will ignore resistances equal to yours!

Storm Sorcerer? Is that in Arcane Power or whatever? Because I ONLY have PHB and PHB2 which has Dragon Magic, and Wild Magic, no Storm Magic option. Or am I missing something?

Edit:
To the invoker thing, I've been having trouble deciding which at-wills I want, which lead to me considering Human for an extra at will. The two powers that can be used as "Basic Ranged attacks" both look pretty good, though Avenging Light looks pretty wicked for a Covenent of Wrath Invoker, and the lightning powers look pretty cool. So, I'd need to decide.

Yeah it's in arcane power. It's a shame you don't have it. You need it to get an area attack power for every level of rsorcerer, you miss out on storm and no nimble spellcaster.

So just dragon and wild? Hmmmm... I'll have to think about that.

I believe that every sorcerer in LEB (all three of us) are Storm Sorcerers. If you're looking to be more unique, as I believe you've stated Theroc, it probably wouldn't be the best way to go, even if you did have access.

It is, however, very controller-y, especially with the Mark of Storms. It's probably why its been so popular. It's certainly why I selected it.

So, you all chose a striker power path to play controllers? Blowin' my mind man... ;)

So, does that mean it would be more accurate to move the three sorcerers and treat them as controllers rather than strikers?

Probably not. My average damage is larger than a controllers, and my controls are almost all slide effects.

I also chose powers to maximize the effectiveness of my mark and the other sorcerers chose more varied powers.

It's easy to make some classes seem very much like another role. A good example is the Avenger, who can built with High AC, and a number of effects that encourage their Oath target to target them. Much like a defender.

EDIT: Actually, renauld's sorcerer Tamarand doesn't even have the Mark.

Nope, no mark here. I'm just a plain ol' drow. Maybe an aberrant mark will manifest later, but I was working up my AC with TWF/TWD and leather armour.
I'll probably re-train acid orb once I level, if there were more warlords to grant basic attacks it'd be better, but c'est la vie.

Heh, I'm still debating my two concepts, still leaning Invoker, because looking at the Druid, I am starting to see some of the complexity. "Do I shoot them, or shift(shift=wildshape in this instance) and charge in melee?"

I enjoy melee, and I think a full blown melee controller would be an interesting concept, but I think that gets too close to 'defender' in a lot of eyes. Druid cannot be a full melee controller really, and Invoker isn't really melee at all, but has close bursts and the like if he does get closed on.

Druid was also one of my favorite classes in WoW, turning into a cat and skulking about and mauling people was great fun. Granted, it would play as a totally different animal here, and I realize that.
