I've made the point before that it seems to make no sense whatsoever to fight for anything given that ultimately everyone--sinner or saint--has to spend eternity suffering at the whim of some evil entity, and this episode really drives it home. Eventually, Richard will die and burn forever while he watches every person he ever saved join a wretched pile of writhing, naked flesh. So, what the Seekr fights for is that first sixty or seventy years before you have succumb to horror and despair.
