Legolas: What do YOUR elven eyes see?

Yeah, I just read on an Orlando Bloom website that he did wear blue contacts during the filming. I suppose that with the combo of his dark brown eyes and the lighting, they just don't look blue all the time.

Most likely it's because of her attempts to maintain her blond-ness. :)

I remember in elementary school, every third person had really really REALLY blond hair. Then by middle school only every 5th or 6th, then in high school it was still every 5th or 6th, but most of them had dark eyebrows now.

I know I started with really blond hair and ended up with really dark blond hair. But then I could be wrong. :)

In Glasgow, 4 out of every 5 men have a bleached head. 3 out of every 5 girls use blonde dye.

I started out with blonde hair and ended up with a dark brown...

Happy Birthday to Legolas...or actually, Orlando Bloom. (Legolas is over 2000 years old, where Orlando is a mere 26 today.) :D

After watching some of the features on the Extended Version DVD, I have another theory...

Color washes.

They basically said that 70% of the film was "digitally washed" into other colors, subtle differences in hue, brightness, intensity, etc. Where a scene in the movie looks yellowish-green (e.g., Hobbiton, the Forest where the Fellowship fights the Uruk-Hai), the original film was sometimes light, sometimes dark, and so on.

Hence, if you're tweaking the footage and "doubling the blue" here and "doubling the red" there, odds are good that features like eyes will look different colors after coming through the various filters.

If you can get your hands on the DVD, check it out. IIRC, it's in the "Visual Effects" section of Appendix 2.

You know, that's a good point, Sigil. If you look at the first 2 pics I posted on the thread, you can see that the one in Rivendell is much more yellow/green, making his eyes look darker, while the one at Helms Deep is much brighter and more blue, which seemed to enhance his eyes. :)

Hmm, this sounds oddly familiar.

I looked for early pictures of them but could only find B&W ones...

They've grown up so fast! :D

*whacks his head on the back of the chair while on the floor laughing*

Darn you, sir! LOL

(I liked Hanson's first record, though)
