Leif's 1E AD&D Game OOC

OOC: Did anyone get a healing potion as our [still waiting for] mystery magic items? Does Ellydd have one? If not, he will blow his second Cure Light to get the annoyingly unconscious rider to his senses and [see if we can] get some answers/info from him...

[DM Edit]
sd, your items are in Posts # 68 and # 83 of the OOC. You got:
+1 chainmail
+1 sword (long)
Magic-User Scroll of Wall of Fire (4th), Plant Growth (4th), and Ray of Enfeeblement (2nd).

Goblin

[ooops!] forgot all about the magic items! I'll try to get right on that. [/ooops!]

The goblin says to Gorash, "There not too many of us -- we servants of big folk," he points to the ogres. "Home not far in that direction," he points. "You go there and soon you be nasty Dwarf sausage."

There are more Ogres and their lair is in that direction.
Gorash says to the others as he points to where the goblin told him. He then turns back to the goblin in his own language

[sblock=goblin] You better not fool me you dirty rug or I'll hammer you like dwarves hammer rocks in a mine! [/sblock]

"No fool, no fool, you go there and you be short, fat breakfast for my grandmother!" Says the goblin who is even shorter than the Dwarf...

3 ogres, 5 goblins

"Dunno. Wasn't, but we been gone while now, so mebbe others follow us?" the ogre says, "Elf, huh? Me not taste elf for long time. You give me one finger?" :)

3 Ogres & 5 Goblins

So, the adventurers seem to have the drop on the band of mixed humanoids, and have obtained some information from them about where to find more of their kind. Now the burning question is how will this encounter end, because it seems to be rapidly drawing to a close.

If we leave them here, they will come to hunt us later or warn their friends and killing them without a battle is being a coward like a gobbo.
Gorash says
I say we let the gobbos have weapons and battle them. let us see what they are worth. A battle of honor to the death.

What's the unconscious guy doing? He still hasn't awakened from my first use of CLW? Ellydd will blow his second/last Cure Light Wounds for the day [what time of day is it, anyway?] to wake the bugger up and get his side of the story.

As to what the rest of the party wants to do for "frontier justice" with the goblins and ogres we've "captured" is up to them. Ellydd won't participate in executions, but neither will he stop his new companions from carrying out what they feel is just.

Ellydd will offer blessings over any executed and pray they re-enter Ehlonna's fold to be reborn in forms more "in tune" with her Green Majesty.

If [and this is a pretty big "if" I bet] any of the living creatures agrees and swears to "be true to and praise Ehlonna and act for the good of her woods for the rest of their days", he will intercede on their behalf to be allowed to live and released [the party, of course, is free to challenge/out vote him]. At the first sign of a betrayal to such an oath, Ellydd will have no compunctions about using the full extent of his powers to end them.

3 Ogres & 5 Goblins

The dude on the horse is still unconscious, but seems to be resting more comfortably. Elydd thinks additional spells would be a waste, what the man needs is a little bit of time. [My reading of 1E AD&D rules is that when one reaches 0 hp, one becomes unconscious for 1d6 turns, period. See 1E DMG p. 82. He/she will then need 1 week's rest. The only spell that can alter those times is a Heal, but we may [probably will] adjust that rule for PCs in the interest of keeping the game flowing.]

OOC: It does seem a bit silly to now give the monsters weapons and battle them. Why bother capturing them if you just end up fighting them anyway? Was the information gained really worth that much?

The formerly silent clubfoot ogre now stands up and says, "....Big lot of surface-dwelling scum. You should give us back our weapons and then give us a ten minute head start to get away from here. That is, if you are truly as 'decent' as you claim to be. Otherwise, just set upon us and slaughter us where we now stand." Now that you see this ogre at his full height, he is easily the biggest of the three, and the largest specimen of ogre that you recall seeing. He stands a full thirteen feet tall if he's an inch! He also carries a thick wooden shield that would make the top of a very respectably-sized dinner table.
