Leif's 1E AD&D Game OOC

I personally welcome you, but with a side cautionary note. Many, if not most, of us have played here on En World for several years. We have played together so well we have gotten to the point that some of our ooc chatter, indeed even ic talk may border on or cross the line of mean spirited insults.

Fear not, we know it is in good fun. The worst might involve The DM and Scotly or myself. Maybe even others. Please take this wit a grain of salt, but just in case: have a full salt shaker handy.

Thank you for joining us all!!

THIS AREA RESERVED FOR DM BACKLASH :

[DM Edit] Ehhhh, not so much backlash as agreement. Truthfully, our joshing would only be considered mean-spirited by the thoroughly uninitiated. Scotley will not be a bother in this thread, as he has much more important things to do than play an out-of-date game like 1E AD&D. ;)

I'm looking forward to it, and, honestly, it wouldn't be a true gaming group without some good natured (and not so good natured) ribbing. Don't worry about offending or even worrying me. I'm pretty sure I've dealt with the same thing in the past. :)

Onto my character, 4th level... Any particular xp limit? Being multiclassed, I know my individual levels will more than likely be below 4...

Starting Level

That's an excellent point, Falariel! Since this is 1E AD&D, the classes do not progress at the same rate, like in 3.5 and 4E. What we'll do is set a starting XP value that everyone has. This total will be divided evenly among the character's classes, and then, to those class totals would be added any 10% bonus(es) that are applicable. That XP total is: 10,750.

As to level limits, we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

Falariel [and everyone]: My intention was not for everyone to roll and then compare their rolled HP to the fixed HP value and take whichever is higher. My intention was for a player to decide at character creation which method he would use and then stick with that method from then on. That said, Falariel, I suppose it is only natural that you should wish to make the comparison at first. But if you elect to go with the fixed HP, which seems to be the case, please don't bother rolling any HP from here on out.

Strahd_Von_Zarovich [and everyone]: Starting Location will be the Free City of Verbobonc under the eaves of the Kron Hills near the Lortmil Mountains.

Excellent, sd and Strahd!!

Now, let's see about magic items for Falariel's character, Falariel Trinlethien. Using Appendix P in the 1E DMG, Falaruel, determine which magic items you would like me to roll for to see whether Falariel the character possesses.

[To differentiate, I shall refer to Falariel P. for the player Falariel, and Falariel C. Trinlethien for the character Falariel.] -- ehhh, not so much now.

Thank you, Strahd. If I had bothered to get out my full-sized map of Greyhawk, I would have seen that. But, no, I had to use the little, cruddy version that came with the 3E Gazeteer. The post below (225) has now been fixed.

I'd like to try for a Ring of Protection, a scroll, a dagger, long sword, and a potion or two, if that's not too much...

If I have to choose between the two weapons, I'll go dagger... :)

...and my apologies for the HP fiasco... ;)

I'll stick with the fixed amount...
