Pathfinder 1E Leif's Questing Knights, Veluna, Greyhawk - L10 Pfdr Rpg [IC 01] [Full]

Eldran Hawkshand

The dour knight of Furyondy cannot help but smile at the banter. He carefully closes the flap on his quiver, and secures his weapons, as gravity could now cause a mishap. He then puts a foot on the nearest wall and attempts to walk up.

Eldran immediately finds that while his foot does find purchase on the sheer wall as he was promised, he nevertheless quickly decides that he would be much more comfortable crawling/scurrying up the vertical surface on all fours, rather than risk the still-present downward pull of gravity on the majority of his frame, which, he judges, would place inordinate stresses on his ankles.

The more observant among the group can't help but notice the look of relief that crosses Ero's handsome face as Eldran and Johann demonstrate the effectiveness of his concoction. He, too, moves to the wall and begins scampering up and over.

Remembering where we are and wondering what you will do now

Previously, I posted this description of the stream and its adjacent passage: [sblock=Earlier Description]Johann, Dontrius, Eldran, and Yurei, and, yes, even Hraln edge up to the bank of the river to make a closer inspection. The improved vantage point allows them to see that there is a kind of shallow 'trough' dug into the wall on the far side of the stream some 2-3 inches above the water's surface, and it extends both north and south to the limits of your vision.

What this means is that if the adventurers have a way to swim the stream or otherwise cross it, they can enter this 'trough' and use it to travel along the path of the stream. The trough is cramped, to be sure, only allowing the characters to move at what we called a 'high crawl' in the army. 'High' here is somewhat deceptive, only being actually high when compared to the 'low crawl,' which will actually put you eye-to-eye with every snail and amoeba along your path, so a high crawl in armor will move you about ten feet per round, and that's being generous.[/sblock]

Given you new, but temporary, form of travel, you may have other ideas about how best to proceed. I await your good pleasure.

DM Answer

[sblock=Helfdan]Absolutley! The drawback to doing that is that very little of the duration of the Spider Climb effect will be used. I thought that you might be disappointed if you didn't get enough 'bang' for your 'buck' out of that maneuver, expecially if you happen to be unable to replicate it later.[/sblock]

"For whoever might be on the other end of the passage, we're going to look creepy as hell coming at them like this." Sozin says from his inverted position on the ceiling. "Shall we?" hesays and heads to the trough.

[sblock=DM Question]Is it possible to follow the stream along the ceiling, or is the trough the only way? Scampering along the ceiling surely seems more comfortable - and way cooler - than doing the high crawl . . .[/sblock]
