Leif's The Hall of the Rainbow Mage, IC (A) [D&D 3.5]

As the guards speak, Blade focuses on his innate ability to detect the true nature of men, first focusing on their intentions, he could determine their motivation and desires, whether they walked the path of darkness. Second, he could determine whether they were beings cloaked in these guises, appearing as regular guards, but demons from another plane.

"We shall complete our investigations with the utmost care and caution" Blade says, once satisfied.

The guard turns to his fellow guard, the two exchange glances and nods. The guard leading the patrol says, "Yes, we know Mrs. Relight sent for help. It's such a shame what happened to the mage! The way I understand it, someone or something attacked and killed Londar and his driver along the Horrik Trade Road."

Another guard then says, "The way I heard it, the Rainbow Mage had been toying with demons, one of his spells went wrong, and he fell into the Abyss." Still another says, "No, no, no. It was another wizard who was jealous of Londar's power that had him killed."

Then the leader speaks up again, "Whatever happened to Londar, I wish you lot good luck in getting anything that he left behind. His house is full of traps and golems and things."

Sam responds "Thanks. Can you tell us anything about his driver? Who was he, and does he have family in town?"

Vaidun also adds a question to that of Blade's. "We are told that the mansion was vandalized...do you know the extent of the damage, or if anything was missing?"

Vaidun also adds a question to that of Blade's. "We are told that the mansion was vandalized...do you know the extent of the damage, or if anything was missing?"
The guard replies to Sam and Vaidun: "I only knew the driver casually, he was just a servant of Mage Brightrain, and, no, I don't beleive he had any family in town. And, no, for me to know the extent of the damage, I would have to know both the previous condition of Mage Brightrain's mansion and a complete inventory of the place before the break-in, and, of course, I am not privy to such knowledge."

Nilah gestures for Whin to come closer for him to say something. If Whin comes closer, Nilah will say:

"First thing I'm doing once we're there is searching for any residual magic in the area, so try to avoid letting this group's magic flood over everything first... maybe I can find a clue in the magical residue..."

"Do you know what the driver's name was?" Sam asks the guards.

After the party takes their leave of the guards and heads towards the mansion Sam will tell the others

"Before we enter I want to take a careful look around the outside of the house.

Also, I hate to say it, but I should probably take the lead in entering and searching the house. The mage's defenses failed him, but there could still be dangerous traps he left. I'm pretty good at finding things like that. But, if we see any hostile golems, they're all yours."

ooc: search +16, take 20; has trapfinding class feature

Gomlar is well adept at fighting golems.... for the most part his rock-fists are well adept at counteracting a golems thick constructed defenses... if we do run into golems though.... be forewarned as you all most likely know they are immune to most magics... Laz utters... speaking the most to his companions thus far than he has before then falls silent as he prepares himself for a mages abode....
