The Vault of Larin Karr

*Whew!*

Tylara thinks she sees an irregularity out of the corner of her eye in the middle of the western end of the passageway, but when she looks closely full-on, it proves to have just been a stray eyelash misbehaving. Francheska, however, seizing this moment, agrees and finds the very well-hidden secret door right spot on where Ty was searching -- the middle of the western end of the hall. [BL8] [OOC: Technically, it should have been Tylara that found the door with Fran's help I know, but it was just easier to write this way. :p ]

Meanwhile, Capizzio decides to execute a more methodical plan and subjects each grain in the stone walls to a scrutiny that passes all comprehension. Tylara and Francheska are busy whooping, hollering, and high-fiving over their secret door whilst Capizzio is inching forward not missing a single speck. The ladies look with profound pity at the workmanlike Capizzio, and think him totally daft, but he has the last laugh! In BN7 he finds a second secret door!

Try as they might, none of the Wizards is able to locate anything remotely resmbling a hinge on either of the two secret doors.

OOC: These two secret doors were Search DC 30 to find!

Pleased with the finds, Tylara turns to the northern most secret door and try to open it by first pulling and then pushing it with Mage Hand.

The Vault of Larin Karr! -- The Hall of Eyes

"Once found, the secret doors can be opened inwards on concealed hinges." *Ahem!*

Tylara pushes the door open with her spell. Entering, the Wizards are confronted with yet another mystery: Against the northern wall of this small room is an odd contraption. Constructed of some kind of light but sturdy metal, it stands 3 feet high, is 4 feet wide, and is box-like in shape with an upwards-sloping top. Inset in the top are three levers, beneath each of which is a fist-sized, hexagonal-shaped glass. Each lever has four positions: off, or up (1); and then white (2); blue (3); and red, or down (4). Currently, all of the levers are set to off (position 1), and the glass beneath each lever is blank.

"That's interesting, more color hexes. Does that match the gems you chopped up at the door Kerlan? Maybe if you pull the levers you can break something else."

OOC: By Cracky!! The colors are a perfect match for the stones in the door!

OOC: Bonus XP time: For exceptional role-play, sharp insight, and general all-around smarts, each Wizard is hereby awarded 275 XP. AFTER THE AWARD OF THIS BONUS XP, each of the Wizards now has: 19,880 XP. [23,000 needed for L7.]

"Hardy, har, har." Kerlan replies sarcastically. "It's not exactly the same. The gems were red, blue and green. These are red, blue, and white. Maybe I can try using white instead of green. I wrote down what order I used." Kerlan pulls out the parchment he used eariler and walks over to the levers. Studying his notes, he pulls the first one all the way down to red, second one down to blue, and the third one down to white. He then waits to see what happens.

The Vault of Larin Karr! -- The Hall of Eyes

When Kerlan sets the levers to the identical pattern of colors that opened the door into the tomb proper, all the wizards hear a moderately loud grating noise of stone on stone coming from back in the Hall of Eyes. Rushing back they find that a third secret door has now operned! Fran and Capizzio stand in shocked awe as a thin layer of wall that was covering the door seems to "evaporate" as the door gently swings open.

OOC: Kerlan, there is nothing in the module about the colors being different. I can only surmise that it was an editing oversight. *shrug*

Manny stands in the center of the wide hall and watches his fellow students - his friends - in awe as they go about discovering all of the room's secrets. "Great job! Awesome! Man, you guys are good!"

OOC: Never let it be said that Manny the Cheerleader doesn't do his part!

Tylara leans on the wall and casually files at a fingernail as if this latest discovery were no big deal.

"Shall we see what has been revealed."
She pushes off the wall and strolls toward the newly opened door. "This guy obviously had a thing for secret doors. Does anyone have a spell handy for detecting them?"
