The Vault of Larin Karr! -- The Cramped Secret Passage
The Wizards find that all of them except Manny must remove packs and other encumbering items before entering the small, cramped, almost pipe-like passageway. Once they do this, however, they are able to make some headway and reach the secret trapdoor in the ceiling found by Manny. When they get there, Manny opens the trapdoor and pops up into another passagway. A split second later, he pops back down with you.

There is a flesh golem standing guard in the passage above, 5 feet away from the trapdoor, and you are the only one in the party who is presently fully geared-up. The others will need a moment at least to be ready for action after they come up. The golem made as if to come toward you while you were in the passage above, but stopped as soon as you began to re-enter the trapdoor.

HOLY CRAP! Manny stands for a moment once he's got the door closed again, collecting his thoughts. "OK, guys. There's a Flesh Golem standing guard in the passageway above. It's plainly aware of the trap door, and started moving toward me as soon as I popped my teensy-wittle head in.
"I'm guessing you guys won't want to take this thing on unless your all geared up - though I don't know for sure. It's not like you've got to put on armor or anything. I can cast Haste before we go in, and Relós and I can start in on it while you get yourselves in order."
"WHAT?! Erm, I mean, what?"
"C'mon, furball . . . this'll be fun! Besides, what've you got to lose?"

"Looks like we need to get on all the magical protections we can before we go in. The old wizard must have known other wizards would be interested in his tomb to use a guardian immune to much magic. Guess I'll have to go with buckler and sword. I can make it through with the buckler on and draw the sword quickly. Anybody else want trade blows with this guy? Or should we summon up some help? I could get a dire boar."

"The golem is immune to the magic, but not the fire. So you create the fire and lob it at the golem and it works. Other spells such as my personal favorite, Magic Missile, are useless. Lightning is worst of all as it can heal them." She shrugs. "Of course this one is old and made by quite a potent wizard if the other things we've seen are any indication. Manny's playmate might not play by the rules, so be prepared to change tactics if what we plan isn't working."

Of course, i've gotten so complacent and lazy that I'm not even going to look the answers up and double-check. Ok, so I did look it up eventually, but it took me awhile,
OOC: Scotley sure does make my job easy. See his post #656 and Tylara's knowledge and spellcraft rolls for your answers.

OOC-Lou: BTW Bro, I disagree with your assumption. Your Fiery Burst is definitely a "spell-like ability," and it is therefore subject to being resisted, if the target is the Golem, that is.
OOC: Anyway, guys, take all the time you wish. The Golem is the very soul of patience!
OOC: If you look up the description, Spell Resistance does not apply to Fiery Burst, only saving throw for half damage. The description for flesh golum says immune to all spells subject to spell resistance. If you want to rule otherwise, that's fine.
