lesser binding favorite critters

Lesser planar binding allows a wizard to call a 6HD outsider, what favorites have you found for your PC or NPCs to ues?

I'm running a side quest with a possessed NPC wizard who has made great use of this calling in dimensional horrors from the d20 menace manual to protect on the ethereal plane and do kidnappings, mad winds from the slayer's guide to demons (incorporeal and pisonic air elemental like possessing demon) to be fun assault demons, and Jarugar from the SGTD to clog up the shadow plane nearby and dark lanterns to act as inncuous sentries with innate sending ability. He also summoned a brachtyran whelp from Kaiser's garden (a plant demon) just to tick off the local druids. I've debated whether the possessed wizard would care to have a succubus on call.

The spell has allowed good use of demons from different sourcebooks.

Anybody else had fun using this type of spell?

Hmm...most of my favorite bindings were 3.0, where you could get up to 8 HD, but I'll see if I can think of any that would still be good...

A 3rd level Azer expert, with skills in armor/weapon smithing and a bunch of Crafts. Pay him in materials that can't be had on the Plane of Fire, and he makes with the crafting.

Lantern Archons, which can teleport without error and use the Tongues spell at will, make some excellent messengers. Hound Archons, while beefier, are even better since they can cast Detect Evil and Message.

Earth Elemental templated trolls are fun: 10' reach plus the ability to tunnel through rock = the best ambush a 5th level spell can buy. Fire element templated trolls are fun, too, what with being immune to fire and all...

A Jann has 6 HD and can cast Plane Shift, if you want to get yourself in trouble way over your head...

Make sure you get some protection, though (I mean from energy drain!).

Wasn't there a thread a while back about brainstorming Planar Binding ideas? I think it was started by Olive, but I can't remember, and I can't search, so I'm not much help, am I?

The dust twister from Sandstorm would be a lot of fun for a long term binding. They're pretty docile but you can sit in the center of their vortex and scoot around with a speed of 60' or fly at 5'(perfect). Maybe not terribly powerful but cool.
