lesser domination (psionics)

Hi, my character is a 5th level Telepath (psion) about to become 6th level and I am wondering if I could use lesser domination in conjunction with lesser mindlink or other telepathic communication to get past the common language problem... and what about Tongues? I know psions don't get tongues as a power but if I had it cast on me or used a potion or something like that... would it work?

If I were your DM, I'd let it work as long as you could maintian communications with the dominated individual, since lesser domination only works if communication is possible. I'd have the domination drop when communication was no longer possible.

I agree with the Alchemist. However, this is for the most part a DM interpretation problem... I'd say talk to your DM... If not... learn lots and lots of languages, they are dirt cheap anyway

thats how i would like it to work. i expected to be told it would fail outright... the description of lesser domination is that its language dependent and the way its worded it sounds like the spell would fail if you had no common language... also, the language thing is the only difference between it and domination, which is one power level higher. i would think that tongues would work, if used before manifesting lesser dom but unsure about the lesser mindlink because the subject has to be willing first... so they'd have to be DOM'd and then mindlinked... which goes against the technicalities of lesser domination. i just wanted to see what people here said about it before I bring it up with my DM. Thanks.

I would let it work.

But it probably isn't legal. Lesser Mindlink can't be used on unwilling creatures, and you can't order someone with Lesser Domination to reduce their resistance to Lesser Mindlink if you can't communicate with them.

Tongues would work.

Doesn't your character speak Common? Or is this a realistic world where trade tongues are rare?
