D&D 5E Let's break the Ring of Spell Storing

Probably not very broken, but Sanctuary or Disguise Self or Charm Person and Banishment. Walk right up into the enemies camp without being questioned/stopped, banish the strongest enemy, and then begin wailing on the remainder until they get back.

Very Luke Skywalker at Jabba's Palace sort of feel.

What's your take on using a Wand of Wonder to charge a Ring of Storing? I'm level 4 sorcerer, with a 2 slot Ring of Storing (my DM based the price on the number of slots and thats what I could afford with a loan from another party member), and we just received a Wand of Wonder. I'm sure that plenty of people purists are going to say "F* NO!", but I'm interested in how the mechanics would play, if my DM allows it. Could I use it as a filtering device and charge it until I get a spell that my character wants? Could it hold 2 spells or effects, 1 spell, or only spells level 2 and below (all other spells either fail or backfire)?

RAW, no, as you seem to know. Beyond that, it is up to your DM if you want to suggest a change. I would probably say that the ring requires a distinct spell, and most of the WoW results are not spells. If you try to charge it and something other than a spell is released, it could be problematic.

Familiars can attune items, yes? This might give you a workaround for concentration limits: A chainlock casts darkness into the ring, the familiar attunes it, then the familiar casts and concentrates on darkness at the appropriate moment, while staying next to the warlock (who obviously has Devil's Sight in this scenario). The warlock can then use another concentration spell (such as *hex or shadow blade) while also benefitting form darkness, without needing to convince any other pc to take any specific actions.

If the familiar can also fly, they can strategically move the globe of darkness on their turns as well.

Don't break the character (or the encounter), break the Ring*:
Start with an empty Ring of Spell Storing and two Scrolls of Wish. Read off one Scroll: "I wish this Ring could hold a Wish spell." Read the second Scroll into the Ring. You now have a Ring of One Wish.

* by dropping the Ring into an active volcano

edit: PS I did not remember that I came in with a practical suggestion ... two and a half years ago.

You can repeatedly cast animate dead with all your spell slots (level 3-level 5) by casting it yourself and letting your skeletons cast it.

We had, not one, but TWO rings of spell storing and an Ioun stone (3 spell levels) in a game we were in.

1. Paladin(who had been slowly raising an army of Knights) would gift his most loyal soldiers an Intelligent Steed
2. Every PC had a familiar
3. The Wizard cast a spell into it (usually Wall of Force) and let his raven Familiar wear it. Since the raven can speak short words, he can activate the spell and, thus, the wizard could have 2 concentration spells. A bit less strategy when laying it down, since Ravens are dumb, but it worked every now and then.
4. The paladin/sorcerer had shield and that spell that gives you resistance to elemental damage. Two reaction spells that gave him a buff and freed up slots for smites.
5. Use it for improved invisibility on the monk
6. We had no cleric so we would get NPC clerics to put in healing spells during our down time.
