Also prof bonus per day was reconsidered. I am not too sad that they are not becoming the default.

It worked too well with multiclassing, but you can still see it in Species and feats.

On the other hand, I hope some customizability for backgrounds is still there. Backgrounds are looking a bit inflexible to me. But lets see.

They just moved it to the DMG.

I suggest 5.2. It’s cleaner/shorter AND it matches this edition’s corresponding SRD version number

I’ve variously referred to it as the 2024 edition or as the 5e revision, but lately I’ve been lazy and using 5r.

As someone mentioned a few pages back, there's apparently no consensus calling it 5.24. So maybe we want another poll (not that it truly matters, but polls are fun).

So far, the main (seriously proposed) options seem to be:

1. 3e-like naming: whole edition is 5e, 2014 version is 5.0(e), 2024 version is 5.5(e)
2. SRD-based naming: whole edition is 5e, 2014(-2015) version is 5.0, 2024 version is 5.2, optionally 2016(-2023) version is 5.1
3. Year-based naming (with e): whole edition is 5e, 2014 version is 5e14 (or 5e2014), 2024 version is 5e24 (or 5e2024)
4. Year-based naming (with dot): whole edition is 5e, 2014 version is 5.14, 2024 version is 5.24
5. PF2-like naming: no name for whole edition, 2014 version is 5e, 2024 version is 5e revised/5eR or Revised 5e/R5e
6. Anniversary naming: no name for whole edition, 2014 version is 5e, 2024 version is 5ae (anniversary edition) or 50e (50 year edition)
7. Movie-like naming: no name for whole edition, 2014 version is D&D (2014), 2024 version is D&D (2024)
8. Old and new: whole edition is 5e, 2014 version is old 5e, 2024 version is new 5e (added after suggestion)

I didn't think it would rankle this much that you're right that this is how movies are named now. It's like they want to you not be able to pick the one you actually want.

Amazon is listing the books as Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Player's Handbook Core Rulebook and the old one is listed as D&D Player's Handbook (Dungeon's & Dragons Core Rulebook). I was wondering if they make enough of a difference or it Granma will be buying the wrong book at Christmas.
