Let's design the dragonborn !

Dragonborn?! Okay that was anti-climatic.

No way! A race with cogenital amnesia? That gains secret abilities or powers only through play? This is just so cool.

I can't wait for the first sourcebook - The Dragonborn Identity. ;)

I wonder how easy it will be to convert dragonborn to mojh...? Are dragonborn just lizardmen on steroids, or is their background more complicated than that?
This is something I'm wondering as well. Will the Dragonborn have the option at least to follow the cerebral, magic-wielding side of the heritage, or forced to take the physical combat-monster path?

Naturally I'm hoping for "more options."

You assume Dragons are going to have a cerebral, magic weilding side. Listen to the first full 4e podcast on monsters. Look at the Xorvintaal Dragon in MMV. Dragons are losing the whole "I'm a wizard" shtick.

I'll remember that one GVD.

On another note, I guess this quashes the orc lobby. I would've been content with orcs. Did anyone see these Dragonborn coming? It feels to me like a hold over of 3.5E where they desperately tried to push dragonblood/dragonmagic or whatnot. No one in my group ever used them nor even used the original Sorcerer class which had flavor based on draconic blood. Now as a full race in 4E I can't see how the scalykind can be avoided. This also reminds me indirectly of the Dungeon Magazine moratorium on using Half-dragons in adventure proposals because they were overused. I can't wait to see how much the new eDungeon pushes this race onto the scene.

Didn't see it coming. But I am not surprised in the least if this really is the case. Actually a bit let down. The whole 3.x fixation/obsession on dragonblend everything deeply turned me off and this just sets the wrong note for 4e, for me.

Well, the word "Dragon" does appear on the front cover of every book in the system. I'm okay with having a lot of dragon-flavored stuff in the game, even if I don't use very much of it.

I've been regularly playing a Firenewt since 1999.

Hey sweet! Another person who has played a Firenewt. I keep encountering people who have no idea what one is and not only do I see someone who knows what it is, but has even PLAYED one. Rock on!

Well, I guess so much for hoping the mystery race was flumphs. I was also hoping for flumphborn, flumphtouched, half-flumph and flumph shaman. Oh well.
