I get sad and yet feel a tinge of nostalgia, too, when I see people post that their favorite modules are only 1st edition ones. They're also my favorites, but I wish there were more great 3rd edition adventures. I know there are some really good ones, but only a few, if any, great ones. They just don't put the same level of detail, artwork, and finesse into the ones made today.

That said, I do see better and better adventures coming out lately and I do think it's important to support this art form that is so vital to GOOD gaming.
Actually, my favorite modules have always been 2e Modules, often thanks to their level of detail. I liked Return to the Keep on the Borderlands for this very reason.

I don't have all that much use for mini-campaigns as they are not as easy as stand alone modules to slot into my campaigns. I would rather publishers put out decent modules rather than the hordes of feat/spells/prestige class books that they currently do.

1st edition had some of the best modules, and 3rd edition should try to recapture the feel and mood of those adventures.

Yes. Plus, 3rd Edition modules are also free to explore new climes and better themes. We can't go foward without looking to the past. But if we ruminate in the past too much, we forget to look forward.

Adventures are pretty much about having fun. That's the feel and mood of many 1st Edition modules, really. Playing the game should be fun too. Anyway, it should be as fun as hiking and backpacking. :)
