Let's Go Mets!!

since this is the only baseball thread around...

the NL Central and West races are really tightening up... the Reds still have a slim chance, but the division leaders for both divisions are neck and neck! it will go down to the last game!

oh - and it looks like there will be no 100 game winners this year. the yankees are the closest, but they are still one game away from it even being possible.

No 100 game winners, and no pitchers to win 20 games. A very odd year, considering how dominant the Mets were (up until a week and a half ago :( ) and how the Tigers played their season.

i think the mets just got lazy after clinching their division hardcore. ;) they're still in the playoffs at least...

now the cardinals are another story. blowing a perfectly good lead, and the astros stand a good chance of knocking them out of the playoffs.

now, this is just an insane playoff race. one game left to go, and two divisions with teams tied for first place: tigers/twins, and dodgers/padres! not to mention, the cardinals are only one game up on the astros...

if i've got this correctly...

in the AL, we have Yankess (last WS win 2000, last played in WS 2003) in 1st vs. Tigers (last win 1984 and have not been in WS since) at wildcard.
Twins (1991, have not played in WS since) in 2nd place vs. A's (1989, last WS appearance 1990) in 3rd

in the NL, Mets (1986, thanks Bill Buckner, and last WS appearance in the 2000 subway series) in 1st vs. Dodgers (1988, have not appeared in WS since) at wildcard
Padres (never won the WS, last WS played 1998) in 2nd place vs. Cardinals (1982, last WS played 2004) in 3rd place.

Yup.

I want to see the Padres advance (see location field), the Dodgers advance (Padres are 13-5 vs. Dodgers this year), the Tigers advance (because bashing the Yankees is a right of all non-NYC based fans), and am somewhat ambivelent about the Twins/A's series (though I expect the winner to represent the AL in the World Series).

i can't see it.

i'd like to see the tigers vs. twins for ALCS, and dodgers vs. padres at NLCS. :)
