1. Dwarf barbarian with 16 CON and tough feat:
18 HP at 1st level, +13 HP per level after
Be the best tank ever.

2. Human ranger with 2 Magic initiate feats(or one Dragonmark feat possibly)
with 2 Magic initiate and ranger spellcasting you would get 6th 1st level casting
2 Hunters mark
2 Free spell slots
1 Spell from 1st feat
1 Spell from 2nd feat

also 4 cantrips to pick for utility

3. Shifter fighter.
2WF+Longtooth

that is 3× 1d6+3 damage for 2 fights per day.

I am creating a character for a one shot. This is in 5.5e. It will only be level one. I want to minmax it, any ideas?
Druid would be my suggestion. Take the magic initiate wizard origin feat.

Use goodberry the night before.
Entangle is soo strong at level 1.

Familiar or shield spell from magic initiate.

Medium armor and shields.

Take a bunch of different cantrips that target different saves and maybe guidance.

Outside Druid maybe fighter/ paladin/ barbarian leaning in to sap mastery. Forcing disadvantage is huge. All have great survivability tools.

If it is just one time level one I would play something I never play and have a good time with it.

Maybe an elf wizard with magic initiate feat. Gives you extra spells and cantrips. You can still have a big spell and get some stuff to help the others if you want.
