"Levelless" d20?

Can't help the feeling that attempts for a levelless d20 game are sponsored by the pocket calculator industry ...
That's what levels are for: shorten the math.

I like MnM's costs

15 points per level

BAB 3 points
feats 2 points
Defence 2 points
Skills 1 point
Saves 1 point

And when you buy feats, you have to follow prequisites.

MnM uses a Damage Save system instead of Hit Points, so that even divorces the need for levels even more. If one still wants hit points, then give a d6 for every 15 points of charater points at creation. Then the Damage Save becomes a "Extra Hit Points" feature, tweak to flavor for your campaign.

MnM does assign caps to your skills, BAB, etc at each "level," but really the mechanic is more like short hand for Champions "Active Point Cost," which basicly said that you were allowed to squeeze points out with disadvantages only so far.

If you took out the "levels" of MnM, the GM would have to either keep a closer eye on character creation, or institute another mechanic that did the same job.
