First in round 540 for Lawful Good is a saint (Book of Exalted Deeds). The battle is back to you, Gansk, unless you want to E-mail me the saint.

St Urho enters the arena, he is most famous for driving all the grasshoppers from NarWay. He is dressed in shining Platemail and his tradtional purple robes and trappings. He looks around and whisltes, and Silver trotts into the arena. St. Urho stands at 60n20e, his horse just to the south of him.
"Soo, monkeyBoy, Ya ready?"

St. Urho shakes his head resignedly. "Where are the demons I was promised to fight?"

The blessed Saint of grosshoppers takes out his longbow and lets fly a magical arrow at monkeyboy.

Round 541: Not even close (rolled 12).
MonkeyBoy moves his index finger in circles near his temple. St. Urho (natural 1 Will save) and Silver (rolled 16 Will save) succomb to the compulsion.

Round 542: St. Urho babbles incoherently, while Silver attacks St. Urho.
MonkeyBoy laughs.

Round 543: St. Urho attacks Silver, dropping his bow and pulling out his sword and hitting (rolled 16) for 5 points of damage. Silver hits St. Urho with one hoof (rolled 24) for 6-5=1 point of damage. Silver has 40 HP. St. Urho has 56 HP.
MonkeyBoy is beside himself.

Round 544: St. Urho hits once for 11. Silver misses all three attacks. Silver has 29 HP.

Round 545: St. Urho hits twice, once in Silver's head, for 21 points of damage. Silver misses. Silver has 8 HP remaining.

Round 546: St. Urho hits once for 8. Silver's final act before unconsciousness is hitting St. Urho with a hoof for 9-5=4. Silver is at -1 and dying. St. Urho is at 52 HP.

Round 547: St. Urho CDG's Silver for 21. Silver is teleported away.

Round 548: St. Urho flees the arena.

Next in round 548 for Lawful Good is Natintrapa the young gold dragon (Draconomicon). It looks like MonkeyBoy might be in trouble.

How would it be different if it were a familiar? I know, in practice, many times familiars are ignored sometimes with area spells (like the last time in Gansk's campaign, and I usually forget about the familiar as well), but they are not supposed to be.

Assuming it was confusion, it doesn't cause you to attack your familiar and vice versa. IMO, a paladin's mount is so much like a familiar, I consider it one for the purposes of confusion or similar effects. I admit that's a house rule, though, but I had to double check to make sure. Fwiw, it doesn't matter here, because I don't think that would even matter here, except to salvage some of the Saint's dignity. :)
