(LHHS) The Light Hearted Hack n' Slash Game (III)

Sollir Furryfoot said:
Rhiamon is lost in thought when Khala approaches him, he still wonders why he chose to help out at that moment like he did. Not against the rules...he thinks, but certainly not adhering to them in a faithful manner.

His initial reaction is to snarl at the drow, for all his questions, but he quickly calms down. "I do not work for the owner of the slave, although I owe him a favor, nor do I plan to collect the money except to help arrange a meeting as soon as possible so this matter can be resolved. And you have my word that I will not try to bring up the child, that should suffice."

"However, I have a few questions of my own," He looks into Khala's eyes, "I perfer you not to lie about them either." He waits for the dark elf's response, then continues.

"I will tell the truth to what I know and can tell."

"What interest do you have in this child, or the woman?

"No interest other than being ran over by her in the street while she was being chased by 9 thugs, who probably would have had their way with her before returning her."

Why is it so important to you that you would risk your life to save it.
"I dislike seeing anyone 'owned' by anyone else. I would do anything I could to aid someone to get them out of slavery. No one should own someone else."
Also, who are you? You obviously have at least some...power, within you." He steps back to take another look, examining him.

"Some call me, Khala. I am what some would call a sorcerer. Now should we go to this person whom you owe a favor so I can take care of the problem at hand?"

As you start talking, you see the exceptionally fast Argonain swiftly move across the shanty-town and into the main city bearing the four coins just so recently acrued, most likley to obtain some kind of supplies for the people of the hut.

You can hear some degree of gigling coming from inside the shanty, likely from either the baby or her father... though it's undiscernable from where you two are at.

You both notice the encroachment of four black robed figures into your little conversation. They each have broad armored shoulders and black hooded masks.

Khala, you notice that their robes bear a mark similar to the mark on the ring you were so recently awarded with. As you notice these purple hooded figures appear from four different directions, you become aware of their markings and symbols, they are Pythagoreans, worshipers of Pythagorious, a dark and anti-magic god. They encroash within 20 feet, perpetually faceless due to their shrouds.

"Why not, I was itching for a fight earlier anyways." Rhiamon says as he feels the orc blood pumping in his veins, "I'll make the first move, you just follow me up."

As soon as the robed figures approach, the orcish wizard's eyes bulge and focus upon the nearest one, lifting up his axe to slice his opponent in half as the adrenaline pushes him far past his normal strength.

(Raging: +11 Attack bonus -+13 if a partial charge can be used-, 1d12+12 damage)

Khala - 13
Rhiamon - 7
Pythagorist A - 18
Pythagorist B - 5
Pythagorist C - 15
Pythagorist D - 8

The first two stand, arm over arm, waiting patiently to see what the judgements of their percieved pray are. They patiently delay for a better time to act.

Khala is the first to react violently, releasing a volley of magic missles (4 and 3 damage), striking Pythagorist C dead on.

Pythagorist C - 7 points of magic missle damage.

Pythagorist C and Pythagorist A react by quick-drawing their Kama's and lunging at the mage first. They come in, flanking, and Rhiamon would have gotten an AoO if he had already acted in initiative order, but they are too fast for him. They strike, very accurately, dealing 6 and 2 points of damage (reduced by 1 each for damage reduction).

Khala - 8 points of slashing damage.

Pythagorist D - Barely acting before Rhiamon, this shrouded figure draws his knife quickly from under cloak, and thrust forwards at Khala. His knife fails to land a striking blow, as Rhiamon just turns in time to strike this Pythagorist.

Rhiamon strikes out, preventing the success of the previous action, but failing miserably to strike accurately agains the assailants chest.

Pythagorist B - As this final assassin steps into range of the Orcish Warrior and the pinned down sorcerer, he strikes out, and fails to strike against the incredibly heavily armored warrior, barely succeeding at reaching near the body.

Alright, Pythagorist C and A continue to rampantly stab with their Kama's. One, though which one is a conundrum, manages to land a solid blow on Khala for 7 points of damage (after reduction). The other fails to connect.

Khala burst forth with 6 points of force, causing the tired Pythagorist C to drop over on his left side.

Pythagorist D fails to connect with the heavily armored orc, but he does manage to hold his own.

Rhiamon utterly crushes Pythagorist A over the head, thereby removing a threat on Khala (15 points of damage).

In turn, Pythagorist B manages to underhandedly stab through the thick 'assault armor' of Rhiamon, landing for 6 points of damage (reduced by 1 for 'orcish armor').

The Pythagorists, now entrenched against their enemies, find that the blood-loss of their friend puts them into a frenzy... they each benefit from some supernatural (or is it super-science?) belief in themselves, and their shrouds turn into a crystaline glow...

They react banefully angry,

Khala quickly casts shatter, destroying the Kama of Pythagorist B. Pythagorist D is the only one remaining, and he strikes out against Khala, trying to avoid the fait of his friends, as he watches Rhiamon bring down his blade towards the neck of Pythagorist B. D strikes Khala, but he steps slowly and delays himself (11 rolled), failing to strike Khala.

At this moment, Rhiamon crushes Pythagorist B's head. (30 damage)

Lunging at Khala, Pythagorist D slides his knife into Khala's chest for 8 points of damage.

The cloak of D shimmers as Rhiamon surprisingly unloads a barrage of stilled magic missiles (12 damage), but whatever protection the cloak provided was null and void from this strike's strength.

D, barely allive, drops to the ground and lays there, resting from the strike.

(Alright, I know an interrogation of the survivor will likely proceed, but for now, I want to get this list up...)

Four Pythagorean Cloaks
Three Pythagorean Kamas
One shattered Pythagorean Kama

And they have no other markings, no utilities like belts or money, and they seem to have only been lightly armed to attempt to knock off a minor enemy as part of a Pythagorean initiation ritual.
