MEDIEVAL TALES
Fantasy role-playing in war-torn 15th century France, where superstition, folklore, and fairy tales are all very real.

The guiding principle of Medieval Tales is that what medieval people believed in is real. Demons guide the actions of evil men, witches fly by night to sabbats in the forests or atop storm-ravaged hilltops, and the Devil in dragon form marauds about the countryside, adding misery to an already despairing land. In the forests and mountains dwell fairies and goblins, whose mischief plagues the common folk. Ghosts and other restless spirits lurk in cemeteries, by the waterways in which they drowned, or continue to walk the corridors of ruined castles. Strange animals, ogres, and dog-headed cyanocephali live on the fringes of the known world.

THIS BOOK
Liber Divinorum Operum, or the "Book of Divine Works", seeks to present a broad foundation for understanding and implementing faith as seen through contemporary eyes. This book will explore the mechanics behind introducing miracles into the game, various divine wonders, and other special rules relevant to enhancing the role of piety/Christian faith in Medieval Tales.

Herein the reader will find:

  • Advice on introducing religious characters to the game, explaining how/why they adventure;
  • Rules for grace, sin, and atonement;
  • Religious orders and major heresies extant in the 15th century;
  • The prevailing views of 15th century men towards the non-Christian religious (i.e. Judaism and Islam).

Also detailed are sub-skills of Ritual and Zeal, and a comprehensive catalogue of 204 major and minor saints who can be called upon by player characters using the Intercession sub-skill of Hagiography.
