Libris Mortis Art Gallery

Stegger

First Post
Hi,
I just looked at the posted art gallery for Libris Mortis, and it looks like WotC have almost excluded pictures with a cartoonish look, except for the cover look of course! To me this is really an improvement. What are your opinions about this? Is this a new trend or?
Cheers,
Stegger

Edit: the Shining South art gallery is up as well.

The picture for Profane Lifeleech is a character of mine.

Seriously, every single detail. Eldrej Neheli, cleric of Wee Jas. That's him.

Creepy.

I'm pretty pleased with everything I saw, except that there wasn't any art for bone or corpse creatures. That doesn't mean they won't be in there, but I had my hopes up for a 3.5 update.

The stitched flesh familiar is pretty darn creepy, too. Almost looked like a photo at first glance. Dirgesinger, True Necromancer, Ability Damage, Necrotic Burst and Wither limb were some of my favorites. (Does it make me a sadistic DM to like seeing PCs in distress? ;)

Glad to see Tom Baxa still painting. I'm a big fan of his Dark Sun work.

The dessicator had me excited for a minute--I thought it was the Planescape "vacuous" from appendix 3.

Reynolds' Entropic Reaper, Evolved Undead, Voidwraith, Necropolitan, and Voidwraith are stunning, and the Slaymate and Wheep are downright disturbing. Just the way I like my undead. :)

Oh yeah, I wasn't excited about the cover, but I like what I see here. In fact, the cover is starting to grow on me a bit as well. Overall, the art is very nice.

I think I'll end up buying this book after all.

I am sure I am going to buy this book as well, and not just because of the high standards of the pictures but because I really count on this being an undead version of Draconomicon, just a tad smaller unfortunatly (192 pages.... :\ )

I think most of the pics look really good and creepy. I am even surprised to actually like a couple of Jeremy Jarvis (no offense...).

I absolutely dig this. Great art. :)

What's more: the Book has the Visage in it? THAT Visage?

*must get book* *cannot control* ...

I was rather disappointed with the art, actually. I guess my hopes of it being as good as Draconomicon was too optimistic. At least it wasn't as bad as I feared for a moment, after seeing the mummified ogre and the ghost brute illustrations from SS. :\ I liked the Forbidden Tome and the new antropal illustration, though.
