Does anybody have the book in hand yet? It's been released at RPGshop, but I haven't been able to confirm or deny its presence at a FLGS in my area.

Yeah the mummified ogre and the ghost brute are repeats (ghost brute was in Savage Species I think, and the ogre might have been too). I don't like it when they do that -- smacks a lot of the worst of 2E publishing practices. However I think those are the only repeats and everything else looks good.

1) I never played Darksun (sadly) and so I'm generally ambivalent regarding Baxa's artwork. However he has some seriously good images in the L.M. art gallery.

2) More Prescott. I seriously like his style and he has some awesome pics herein.

3) Wayne Reynolds is astounding, as always. And having met him at GenCon I can now say that he's also astounding, but with a british accent! ;)

yeah, some of the art is pretty good, but i doubt (i know) that the book doesn't have any particular innovation. There will be rehashed spells, feats, prestige classes and monsters, all bundled into a fantastic full color hardback. From a collectors standpoint i can understand why someone would buy it, but i've bought SO MANY of wizards books in the past, and they just sit on my shelf, used once maybe, and then resigned to collect dust. Thank goodness they let us see all the art. That i use for making miniatures or showing players. Stats can be culled from any old monster manual, heck, i've got two dozen of those too! And some just collect dust!

No blood and gore for us D20 Publishers, but its perfectly okay for them to put up a picture of a dog eating someone's innards from their dessicated rib cage?

I'll tell you who you can thank for that...
