I'm not digging the cover. Draconomicon's cover was like the Herbal Essences shampoo of RPG covers...had me squirming and making funny noises (in a good way).

However, what's most important to me is the juicy nut-meat that's inside the shell. If it's half as tasty as Draconomicon's delicious feast of info was, I'll be happy.

Could you please never again use the phrase "juicy nut-meat" right after talking about squirming and making funny noises? KTHNX. ;)

As far as the cover, I had to admit, I'm sort of digging it. It's not a style I'm all that fond of, and I'm not going to pretend it's anywhere near as good as the Draconomicon, but I don't think it sucks, either.

Does WotC ever post wallpapers that don't have the D&D logo on them? I understand the promotional purpose, but It'd given that some of those wallpapers are darn good artwork, (the Draconomicon one in particular) it's be nice to have them on my desktop as such, and not as a D&D ad.

As a piece of art, I like it. As a book cover, I don't like it. While I like to see new and interesting cover choices on game books, this goes a bit too far out from the norm for me.

walking dead? check.
Interesting color? Check.
Covers the book ok? Check.
Magic use? Check.
Evil guy on cover? check.
Is there Fog? Check.
Is there a graveyard? Check.

So we have an evil guy raising the dead in a foggy graveyard on the cover.

Looks like this works just fine for me. So it aint perfect. Its a cover that says to me "stuff on undead in here"

I like it. It's compelling and nicely moody for D&D style undead hijinks.

It's not better or worse than Draconomicon, just very, very different stylistically.

I hate the style of the art on Libris Mortis and Codex Anethma, and I really hope the switch away from that style for future products. I much prefer a number of different other styles, such as the Draconomicon. But even the boring core book covers is better than to me looks like cartoonish art on a hardbook.

Are we certain this is the final cover? I'm no art expert, but this looks like one of those placeholder art pieces WotC uses sometimes.

At least I hope so. The painting is OK, it's just the lich (or whatever that is) that looks strange to me. Is that a TV antenna on his head?

When I think lich, I think about the old 'green border version' of Tomb of Horrors. Now that was a lich.
