Libris Mortis Excerpts

Well I figure the Hooded guys to be kind of a lesser form of Orcus worshippers. After all, not everyone has the stomach to stand for Orcus. ;)

But mostly I like the fact there's some hints Orcus WILL be in this book. I sure hope so. He deserves a good portion darnit.

The cults have me hoping...

Agreed. The new cults sound interesting (Evening Glory sounds very cool), but this really is where he should have his moment to shine, as well as Nerull and Wee Jas.

And then there'd be people complaining that there is no "prestige" in getting enslaved and forced to do someone else's bidding. ;)
Bah, the one in the Draconomicon is pretty prestigious. Anyone who grumped about a comparable undead one could just be thrown to the ghouls. :]

Yep. Especially since for me, Orcus IS the reason Undead exist. (At least in my warped and demonic princed view. ;) )

Yup. As soon as I read about this one, my epic-level necromancer-fop decided to raize all the other temples in his city and devote it entirely to Evening Glory.

And his construct-daughter just smiled.

I actually liked the "hooded pupil" template, although I agree with jester47's interpretation. Also, animated fossils are just plain cool.

Demiurge out.
Oh yeah, the revived fossil template is just plain cool.

In fact, everything in this preview has me excited!

This sounds awesome. I wonder if they're going to eventually do one of these for each creature type?
I can certainly see fiends, the fey and underwater creatures getting books. After that, it gets hard to lump them together in a way that's compelling for a large D&D audience. "101 More Dire Animals" seems destined for a marginal audience, for instance.

Underwater is not a creature type.

Here's the type list, with assorted probability chances guesstimated by me. You're free to disagree with my numbers, except for the 100% one.

Aberration (100% Codex Anathema)
Animal (5%)
Construct (80%)
Dragon (100% Draconomicon)
Elemental (60%)
Fey (85%)
Giant (75%)
Humanoid (40%)
Magical Beast (60%)
Monstrous Humanoid (50%)
Ooze (50%)
Outsider (75%)
Plant (30%)
Undead (100% Libris Mortis)
Vermin (25%)
