[life] what should I do?

1. This is a decision you have to make on your own. Nothing anyone is going to say here will make it any easier for you.

2. Send me your resume and I will float it with folks that I know.

Where are you located?

I am back in Ohio right now, but I know IT folks all around the country.

BTW if you have a TS or higher clearance that is currently active, I can find you something almost immediately. SBI's are running 18-24 months right now and there is a premium on folks who don't have to waited on.

Make lots of money. It will give you the breathing room to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life, and the freedom to actually try doing something useful.

Come to the East...

die kluge,

Just pretend you are Frodo, traveling to the East to cast the Ring of IT into the fires of Mount Doom :p!

Richmond is going to be a little more expensive than KC (as others have already noted), but not terribly so. Some of the suburbs are very nice, have decent schools and are reasonable priced. The more you slide up towards DC, the more expensive things become.

There is, however, a ton of "stuff" to do in the DC Metro area, the economy is booming, with pockets of resurgent high-tech popping up all around.

Plus, you can come to our game day on 10/2 ;)!
