4E List of Potential New Martial Practices

I really find the effective thp hard to translate --> How about Make a Diplomacy/Religion Skill check and each ally gains 1 temp hit point for each point your check exceeds 10. We could limit it based on needing to reaching a milestone to be affected (making it even more 4e).

Why not just a simple number of temps? 5/tier + CHAmod or something?

Oh, and it could cost a surge from the orator, lotta practices do.

I have not followed this thread in detail, but is there a document where you have gathered all these great new martial practices, following the 4e format?

From Pathfinder 2e I really like the create traps ability that would really fit well with the 4e martial practices

Why not just a simple number of temps? 5/tier + CHAmod or something?

Standard rules they do my variant allows a skill check to avoid the loss...

Edit I did think the skill check was kind of interesting and actually made the results very close to a direct translation ... but it introduced the possibility of people increasing there skill focus in Religion or Diplomacy to gain better inspiration of their allies. @Tony Vargas

Many I have in character builder but I agree I need to finalize from them... they have a bit more info than a standard one like a DC - and some supplemental rules.

I will investigate it --> they seem to have a regular snare system with formulas and the like.

SNARE CRAFTING FEAT 1 Prerequisites trained in Crafting You can use the Craft activity to create snares, using the rules from page 357. When you choose this feat, you gain the formulas for four common snares. If you have a formula book, you can put these formulas into the book.

IS that the item you were thinking of?

To be honest I have sort of been thinking about things like improving versatility for the Intelligent fighter and other martial controller builds in other ways so formalizing this has been getting less focus.

Today I started working on XSLT to output the CBLoader data in a nicely formatted fashion for the practices and the like. This can then be refined as new are added ... and it makes the practices accessible in more finished form without someone needing CBLoader and the Offline Character Builder.

    The practice is as much about getting the beasts to listen as it is learning what to say and understanding their responses. It is said there are sentient variants of many animals particularly hailing from the realm of fey - their languages are both more verbal, complex and comfortable to other sentients they may find this gestural form of communication rustic and quaint or insulting depending highly on mood. Exploration Nature, Insight special as much as 24 hours 1 10 minutes 50 gp Martial Practice Animal languages are simplistic and involve gesture and stance as much or more than any vocalization coming to an understanding with beasts often involves effort (spent healing surge) such as chasing them or rigorous power plays or smearing scent creating substances on yourself with a component cost 10 gp. This practice allows one to use various language based skills normally with common animals (such as Diplomacy/Bluff/Intimidation and also Insight). Animals so convinced will remain willing to communicate for as much as 24 hours but will desire to engage in their normal activities their "acceptance" of you is often enough that others of their kind respond similar.

On a general note I think the whole ritual/martial practice area was under developed in 4th edition. A lot of utility spells would have been better of as rituals. The whole psionic area should also have included psionic "mantras" or whatever name you think would fit.

Note Transcendental Meditation was a very early added practice

I have considered putting a custom form allowing people to select field values and input a new practice or ritual ... it could output a similar XML - auto select a lot of elements like cost / DC per level and so on

Could you elaborate... i actually am also thinking of revising rituals because of things I have run into while addressing the obvious underdevelopment of Practices.

And interesting rituals too have been popping to mind like the wolf pack transportation and the forces of nature or zombie hoard summoning rituals.

Or one could grant a healing surge worth of hp to each with the religion or diplomacy roll doing its job to reduce the surge cost.

History might also work... like telling a tale of ancient heroes to rev up the team. Or having a party and some of the temp hit points are pain supression as a gift of Bacchus. ;)

OK I want to know is this too powerful because I like the flavor a lot.
