How big a doll are we talking here?

Full-sized manequin sort of living doll, or a Tiny Wendy Wets'um sort of living doll?

Are there any rules on playing a living doll, my gf wants to play one. So, I figured I'd come here and ask for all your help, thanks much.
The best response is "You're already a living doll, sweetheart."

Awakened Animated Object?
That makes sense for a monster, but I don't think it'd work very well for a PC. (What's the LA of an awakened animated object?) You'd be better off starting with a PC race. I like the tiny warforged idea.

Aye an awakened animated object would be the best way to go about doing this.

www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/awaken.htm

This would be an example of a tiny doll PC.

Standard point distribution with following modifiers

Size: Tiny (with appropriate modifers and penalties)
Speed: 40'
Construct Traits
Darkvision 60'
Low-Light Vision
Natural Attack Slam 1d3-1

Str +0 (or 3d6 straight, if no point buy)
Dex +6
Con -
Wis +0 (or 3d6 straight, if no point buy)
Int +0 (or 3d6 straight, if no point buy)
Cha +0 (or 3d6 straight, if no point buy)

1 Animated Object HD
Provides no skills
1 Language, plus bonus languages for intelligence
1d10/2 Hit Dice
Maintains hardness depending on original material

From a min/max point of view, its probably an LA 1-2 race.

You could use the stats for the Warforged Scout race, and just give it flavour text so that it's on the low end of the Small scale, much as the Dwarf is on the low end of the Medium scale. That removes the need for eyeballing any LA.
