[Living Greyhawk] Conversion

Gotta suck. Thank grud they've improved though. Didn't realise that Mr Tulach was on your Triad, so far he's been as good as Mr Bulmahn.

Perrenland's doing fine, aside from Iuz invading us, magically cutting off communications, scerwing over divinations and destroying an entire legion of the Auszug. And it happened when we were marching to liberate you guys over in Highfolk. It only got better when Iggwilv decided that being dead was boring and invaded from the other side. And then we found out what Iuz has been planning...

Oh well. Guess we'll just have to kick their collective rears again. We beat Iggy before, and we've been stomping all over her son since year 1.

Otherwise, the problems with the Voorman have been sorted out, kind of. Karenin's dead, and now we've got a filthy Roodberg in charge, first of his clan to get the post.

What about you? What's been happening there?

Yeah, Jason was great--and also a former Highfolk triad member. The Circle keeps stealing our triad members! ;)

Some very similar stuff was happening in Highfolk last year: invasion, cutting off communications, etc. But at least we didn't have Iggwilv attacking from the other side. :uhoh:

Flameflower, the elven capital fell. Quaalston, deep in the Vesve forest, almost fell to an army of grugach (but they weren't really grugach--there's some impressive illusion work going on!). But the peoples of Higfolk seemed to have turned the tide....so far. ;)

Oh, and we discovered a heretofore unknown underground dwarven city last year. This was during the interactive where I got grappled by an aboleth and then a kraken. Good times! :)

I have a human bard 9/cleric 1/Ftr 1 and a human Rgr 5/Ftr 4/DWS 2/Knight of the Dispatch 1 (archer). For my Ranger archer, I'm just taking 2 more levels of Ranger and taking improved critical bow and Improved Precise shot as new feats.

For my Bard I'm taking Fouchlan lyricst (sp?). So after conversion I'll be Bard 6/Ftr 1/Drd 1/Rog 2/FL 1. I decided to keep the Fighter level so I could use a long bow and keep Mobility. I have Leadership too, which I'm keeping. This time the Co6 let us drop it but I decided to keep it for role playing reasons. I kinda like how my PC turned out. I took a hawk animal companion. I'm going to take more levels of Fouchlan Lyrcist.

I wanted Living Greyhawk to work for me. I was there when it started, knew all the triad members and played every module that I could during that first year.

Then the changes, the no certs, the buying what ever you want and those strange sheets that you needed to calculate all your treasure made no sense to me. I didn't care for it so left. My Elf Cleric of Ollidumara (sp) has since retired and is robbing dwarven tombs in the Principality of Ulek.

Dagger75:

That's too bad. But after the horrible year of "Living Accounting" they revamped it (no more "magic mart" and no more accounting for every mundane item on the 'Adventure Certs').

You might want to give it a try again. The current system is a nice balance between year 1 (where only 1 person could get the cert) and year 2 (where anyone could buy--or upgrade--almost anything willy-nilly).

Now, there are still no certs. (Which I sort of miss.) But anyone with enough gold can buy the "Certed item"--which are just listed on the 'Adventure Record' (a.k.a. "AR" which replaced the 'Adventure Cert' from Year 2). It's just one sheet per module: you track gold, xp, and buying/selling in a few boxes. You also have access to items on the AR, which can vary. Some items are "adventure" (can only buy it after that adventure) "regional" (buy after any regional mod for tha region), "any" (can buy any time), etc.

They got rid of the really silly stuff and also opened up access to a lot of "non-core" stuff without needing special documentation (i.e., access via a cert and/or AR).

It's much better than year 2! :)

How do you like playing a Bard in LG? They are much maligned (in general), but occasionally I'll play at a table with one. They provide great support, especially when you've got five other characters than can concentrate on the opponents with more direct attacks.

If you ever get over the Highfok (Wisconsin), let me know. We can run some Highfolk mods for ya!

Conversion for my primary character is pretty simple. Fortunately the "no new core classes at conversion" rule didn't mess me up since I gained 3 levels of swashbuckler after the LGCS 4.1 came out. Yay for playing 36 hours straight before Winter Fantasy even started. ;)

With some minor level juggling, I'll end up: Fighter 4/Rog 4/EWM 1/Sws 3/OccS 3. Major changes are switching my stat bumps from Str to Dex, and dropping some feats to get Staggering Strike and Tactile Trapsmith. TT will boost my Search and Disable nicely, up to high 20's for DD and low 30's for Search. I fully expect Staggering Strike to get banned in the next LGCS and I plan to do my part to show why it should.

My 4th level Dwarf Paladin...I have NO idea what to do with him. :( Knowing how dangerous high level LG is I'm not sure he will do very well.
My 3rd level Elf Ranger 1/Cleric 2: He's dropping cleric and going Ranger/Fighter to eventually become a Champion of Corellon. He's going to be VERY fun to play in elf-hating Ket :D

As for what's happening in Ket...well we're getting close to finally bagging Lareth the Beautiful and ending the threat of the Elder Eye and the Temple of Elemental Evil. At least, for now. We had a couple of wars brewing with Tusmit, maybe Keoland and as usual, Bissel. However the World Burners (Elder Eye cultists) ended up fielding an army to attack our Tusmit "heavy diplomacy force", AND the Tusman rabble that we were in the process of "diplomacizing". Not sure why they did it, but it ended up turning out badly for them. We allowed Tusmit to join in the slaughter of the Cultists and the region has stabilized. It's a mystery to most people why they stuck thier noses in since they've spent the past year + trying to PROVOKE a war between Ket and, well, everybody, and with one fell swoop they ended all of it.

2 of the 4 Elemental Princes have been summoned so far as I know. We'll see how that goes.

My main character (mounted warrior specializing in hunting down heretics) is changing quite a bit, from a ftr4/rgr1/hospitaler4 to ftr1/rgr6/Wild Plains Outrider 3. I liked the combination of mounted combat and spellcasting with the hospitaler, but the CD version drastically weakened it and made it require spellcasting as a prereq, so it didn't work anymore. That said, I'm quite happy about the switch, since it means I get to have a dire bat mount as an animal companion rather than relying on a normal purchased horse. The free archery feats get wasted since I wear heavy armor, but oh well.

My secondary (a halfling bard 7) isn't changing much, but I switched a few feats and spells (adding kiai shout instead of spell focus and taking inspirational boost instead of some other spell). I considered taking skill focus (perform) to qualify for Seeker of the Song, but decided that the odds of actually encountering another one to meet the requirements were low enough that I didn't want to potentially waste the feat. I'm now planning to take Sublime Chord once I qualify, and am currently trying to decide whether to take the experience penalty to take a couple levels of marshal in the meantime (anybody happen to know whether there's a feat that gives an extra favored class among the ones from Dragon that are allowed?)

My monk/cleric/barbarian (wrestler) didn't change at all, but he's only third level. I'm still trying to decide whether my 2nd level fire druid should stick with druid all the way or switch to drd1/wiz1 and go for arcane hierophant.

Can someone please tell me about Iggwilv and coming back from death? I run a Greyhawk group in perrenland but we are not LG (even thought Perrenland is New Zealand's
official country)

I am registered with RPGA and passed that GM test - so is there any way i can access to these Iggwilv/Iuz moduels for non LG play?

Thankyou

We don't get stolen, we get kidnapped by those higher and higher up the foodchain.

The only way to get the mods is to order them and report the tables when done. Well, I should clarify: the only legal way to get the mods... :)

Why not run them for your group? Could be fun and it won't cost anything (since RPGA membership is free).
