[Living Greyhawk] Conversion

Well, the conversion is almost upon us. If you're a Living Greyhaw player, do you plan on changing any characters around?

My main PC is a fighter-mutt: Bbn2/Ftr8/Rgr1. He is a dwarf gnome half-elf (praise to Obad Hai for his meaningful reincarnations!). His stats are: STR 16, DEX 13, CON 16, INT 10, WIS 12, CHA 6 (the two stat bumps went into STR and CON).

I'm changing him; I just haven't decided how drastically to change him. I might lose the Ranger level, and maybe the Barbarian levels, and just go straight fighter. Or maybe go all Ranger. The problem with all Ranger is that his armor is Medium and his weapon is two-handed (a +3 silvered scythe), so he couldn't use the free Two Weapon Fighting feats very effectively. I could put my stat bumps into WIS and buy a periapt of Wisdom and make him a cleric.

My other characters will probably not change at all. A level 4 Wood Elf Bbn2/Rgr2; a level 3 Human rogue (his INT is higher than his DEX, since I was thinking of going for Arcane Trickster); and a level 3 Halfling Cleric.

I have a few friends who are losing Prestige Classes, so their characters will be very different.

How about you? Any drastic conversions planned? Why?

My Druid's barely changing at all, just some feat rejigging so I have Fast Wild Shape at 9th, leaving me open for Lion's Pounce at 12. Right now I'm a Human (Oeridian) Druid 10, about to go Drd 10/Nature's Warrior 1.

I was tempted to go Drd 5/MMF 5, but I love my spellcasting too much. Hitting someone with Languor before closing for the grapple as a Polar Bear is lethal.

No, the release of the final "Complete" book means they are getting rid of the old "Builder" books (Masters of the Wild, etc.). If something isn't in one of the new books, it's out. And since some people will lose prestige classes, feats, etc., it's more fair just to let everyone convert to this "final 3.x" rule set.

They've only had one conversion before in 3e (3.0 to 3.5), so it doesn't happen too often.

Maybe he's thinking Arcanis. You get an annual rebuild in that, and their conversion document for 3.5 didn't come out until AFTER the deadline.

LOL. That sounds like the LG year 2 "RUP" fiasco. I played a mod on Jan 5--five days after the rules took effect and they weren't out yet. ;)

At least they learned from their mistakes--they really have gotten it down to a smooth process.

"RUP"? I don't know what that is, but I started at the end of Year 2.

And yes, they have gotten it down to an art, thanks largely to Tulach and Broadhurst's communication over the draft discussion list.

I think it stood for "Rules UPdate."

There was no public discussion. Just "it's coming on Jan 1; deal with it." What a PR debacle.

I will miss Chris as a triad member (I'm in Wisconsin), but I glad he's on the circle. He does great work. At least we still have him for our meta-region rep (as do you--how is Perrenland these days?).

Gotta suck. Thank grud they've improved though. Didn't realise that Mr Tulach was on your Triad, so far he's been as good as Mr Bulmahn.

Perrenland's doing fine, aside from Iuz invading us, magically cutting off communications, scerwing over divinations and destroying an entire legion of the Auszug. And it happened when we were marching to liberate you guys over in Highfolk. It only got better when Iggwilv decided that being dead was boring and invaded from the other side. And then we found out what Iuz has been planning...

Oh well. Guess we'll just have to kick their collective rears again. We beat Iggy before, and we've been stomping all over her son since year 1.

Otherwise, the problems with the Voorman have been sorted out, kind of. Karenin's dead, and now we've got a filthy Roodberg in charge, first of his clan to get the post.

What about you? What's been happening there?

I've got an Oeridian wizard 5... Probably not changing at all, though there's something that might need redoing on his spell list (shadow cache from Manual of the Planes - got it from a Year 4 Core module and from what I've seen, there's been some debate on whether that's really legal or not).

Over here in Naerie we've been having some issues with power struggles between noble families and a lot of squashing pesky Idee Volunteers and Trithereonites. We like the iron fist of Ahlissa, thank you very much...

In the bigger scale, looks like the Brotherhood's being kicked out of Onnwal, now that Sunndi's sending in troops through Naerie.
