Pathfinder 1E Living Pathfinder

So what is it that Living Pathfinder is that PFS isn't? Can you help me out on describing what you mean a little more clearly? Is it just a wiki that decribes what happened in "X" land, as depicted in "Y" product, that others now need to take into account when running their own adventures set in LPF?

It's a PbP game, which I don't think PFS is. Also, Paizo runs PbP games on their sites and I know I participated in one there, the first AP I believe. The wiki is a storage location for the PC's character sheets.

Those involved here are not proposing on releasing published adventures, but rather having a setting to play either homebrew adventures in over the PbP format.

(1) Networking between new players; (2)building brand loyalty; (3) recruiting existing RPG players into the Pathfinder system (4) increase sales of Paizo products at the FLGS (5) recruiting and developing new adventure authors.

...

We are not intending to sale everything. We do PbP gaming only. Pathfinder Society (PS) is a person to person game, so has a fully different medium. Rearding the points:

(1) We do this. Between online players. If they want real life, they have to use PS.

(2) ? we would have advertised their brand. If they wanted more world info, they would need to buy the paizo books.

(3) see 2. Maybe some will start a real life group or joining PS after playing it online once.

(4) + (5) How should this project affect this negativly?

Oh forgot to add, I'm not sure how terribly concerned Paizo is at selling through FLGS' as say WotC is as Paizo is willing to sell directly to me, whereas WotC doesn't so therefore relies more heavily on these stores for sales. Also, Paizo will certainly make more money by selling directly to the public.

Pathfinder Society games can be played online via virtual table tops or play-by-post as well and still count as official PFS games.

I think one of the big differences from a LPF and PFS is that the adventures are not shared. You will not have 10 or 20 groups playing the same adventure and then sort out the results later. You have one adventure with one group and they play a HB adventure and what they do effects the world around them immeditately.

If they see an old abandoned manor on their way to "X" and decide to explore it busting down the door to get in. Then another group on a different adventure who goes by that manor will encounter it with the door broken down already (and probably no treasure about).

Also I have to agree with Mowgli (as I to do not have a face to face group) what if I wanted to run a PF game but didn't want to waste time thinking up gods and peoples for a one shot deal. What would be wrong with putting it in Golarion (I paid the $50 bucks for it). I mean the world is truly flavor text anyway the dungeon/adventure site is truly what matters.

So I say... "You travel to the Harpy's Caves some five miles from Souston, and stand before them ready to find the stolen crown of King Codwin"

and a couple characters take the character options listed and one took a general feat like Spirit of the River

Those things all seem to me like flavor and not like stepping on anyone's toes.

BAD NEWS

Morrus post

There will be no new Living Pathfinder Forum, we will have to make do with the Social group and the forums here. :( It is sad but I think we will have fun none the less. So stop all that down trodden face in the mud feelin' and get ready to play some PF.

So someone has to pay 41$ for a forum attached to the social group?

I got an answer to my PM from Mr Bulmahn. He directed me to this site in regard of using the Golarion Setting for a living game:

If you want an example to show Paizo (James Jacobs?) you can direct him/them to the Living Eberron setting. It uses an established setting as the world for our games. It has definitely increased at least a few more sales. I've purchased the 3.5e setting, a few of the setting fluff books and both of the 4e books for it. I know at least a few others there have also.
